What is your favorite Non-Canon FF Lens?

If I chose any one of following Nikkors I own: 50/1.4 AIS, 105/2 AIS, 180/2.8 PC, or 300/4.5AI...I'm afraid the others would desert me...

If I didn't feel that one wasn't favored, it'd be outta here...You've got to believe in your tools...

I really like Sigma as an aftermarket manufacturer. I've had some pretty good Tamron lenses, but I feel Sigma trumps Tamron in both IQ and build quality.

My faves are the Sigma 28/1.8 (my copy is very sharp wide open) and the Sigma 105/2.8 macro. The 105 is as good as any lens I've used regardless of mount.

I'm another one having the Sigma 50/1.4 mounted most if the time. I don't find it flawless, but it is a very good lens.

Other favourites are the Olympus OM90/2 Macro and the Olympus OM24/2.8.

My favorite non canon FF lenses are (in order of preference)

• 28mm f3.5 olympus OM - flawless to the corners on my 5D and tiny even with the hood prefect for travel and cheap - little gem

• Pentax 50mm f1.4 A - shot at f2 90% of the time, it just keeps that money I saved for the sigma in the bank every time I use it - beautiful lens

• Sigma 12-24mm - See's the most use after the 24-105mm, it's field of view is unmatched and the perspectives you can achieve really set your work apart from other shooters. I used it for birds recently, shooting Corellas as they few up to get bread from my hand, the whole wing span fits into the shot from about 30cm away, very cool

Is it really $120 better than the Canon 50/1.4? I have to say I'm not happy with my 50/1.4 because its focus sucks, possibly I should get around to sending it to Canon, but the 1.4 is notorious for its micro USM mechanics breaking down so I'm possibly looking to replace it with another 50. Sigma is well recommended but I'm surprised when third party outprices OEM at the same specs. I'm also, of course, very interested in the 50/1.2L...
