Here are pictures of some flowers that are making a final effort to fulfill their destinies...Summer has flown and Fall rules!

The final French Lace bud! It will never make it to full bloom

My climbing rose bush and its final bloom before the petals are gone and rose hips take their place. You can see the beginning of the black spots and wilt in the bokeh:

Finally this is the rose bud of a rose whose name I do not know...but what I do know is tha this rose has been blooming in front of my house for over 55 years or so I have been told by an old couple who have walked past and admired these roses since they were married those many years ago! This bud will not open because the frost will be upon it soon.

Even as the fade and decay, they are beautiful. I hope you think so too!

These shots were all taken with the DA*55mm lens and although it is not the best lens for near macros because it does not focus closely enough, it has done a credible job I think!

Best regards to all
Leo

Salaam Leo,

Gorgeous as usual (I mean the photos!). It's a while that I search the threads by posters' names and when I find yours, I'd expect something awesome there.

Maghbareh Ha-ram Aurum-gauh! Did I get that right?! LOL!

Thank you so much for your kind words my friend! It is always a pleasure to hear from you.

How goes the eye business in Terhan? I hope you and your family are well and happy!

I am glad you liked my pictures! By the way, I have decided to buy the K-7 sometime before Christmas and spend the winter getting to know the machine, then in the spring I will buy the DA*300mm lens.
Stay out of harm's way Soheil

I wanted to put this in my next text to you! It is a saying by Rumi the Persian poet! I am trying to get a hold of a book of his poetry! He is a mystic of the kind this world can use more of!

'Let the beauty we love, be what we do, there are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground...'
What a beautiful thought anyone can think about! Do you know this man's work!

All the best Pasha Soheil (is Pasha correct as a sign of respect in Iran as it is in Arabic countries?)

Some lovely shots as always Leo. And, yes, it is a sad time of year for gardeners - when everything is in decline and all the beautiful flowers are having their last gasp.

The bright note is the vegetable garden where we still have an abundance of goodies to harvest. This was a bumper year for our garden and we've been enjoying a variety of fresh veggies for nearly the past three months. Some of the root crops will keep well in the ground till at least mid November and cabbages and Brussels sprouts really don't taste their best till they've had a touch of frost so we're good for a while yet. Still, it's going to be hard going back to store bought, high mileage veggies after the bounty we've had this summer...

Hello Leo,

You own such a vast knowledge of everything that makes me amused. Rumi is a nickname of Mowlana, one of the greatest poets of Iran ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumi ). I feel great when someone who may have never visited Iran, is so familiar with it's culture. Greece is always comes beside Persia in my thoughts of ancient world and that may be the cause of the attraction that always stands between these cultures. Pasha is not a common word in farsi, it's in fact a turkish word. The arabs use the word "Sayedi" and in farsi we use "khan" as the indian do.

I'm going to buy a DA*200 or DA*60-250 or may be both in a near future and if I took any photos which deserves to be shown beside your wonderful images, I'll upload them.
Bye,
Soheil

Hi Marc!

Thank you for the encouraging comments mate! Number 1 is also my favourite capture of the three. I am sorry but ACDSee strips the exif, however here it is for all three:

Number 1 DA*55mm, f5.6 @1/125th, ISO400, 2 f4, @1/250th, ISO 400 and the third is the same! All are shot with the DA*55mm lens.

Best regards Marc

Hi Keith!

It is always great to hear from you way out on the Left Coast of our country! Jack Simpson country! ;-)

Autumn for me, is both a sad time and a very happy one from the point of renewal...there is no Spring possible without the Autumn in this climate, one follows the other naturally! I love the beauty of the fall and most of all I love the very special Light of this season, golden. It touches all the flowers and they eventually wilt, but as they fade, they change their colours to match the Light. I used this earlier but it is one of my favourite poems, one I did for memory work in Grade 5 and remember to this day.

Indian Summer
Along the line of smoky hills
The crimson forest stands,
And all the day the blue-jay calls
Throughout the autumn lands.
Now by the brook the maple leans,
With all his glory spread;
And all the sumachs on the hills
Have turned their green to red.
Now, by great marshes wrapt in mist,
Or past some river's mouth,
Throughout the long still autumn day
Wild birds are flying south.
William Wilfrid Campbell

Yes the vegetable gardens are bountiful this time of year and often contain the fall veggies like squash and pumpkin et al! The fresh veggies from the garden are indeed tastier but in Winter one must be content with what we can get from Sobeys eh! ;-)

I am glad you liked the shots Keith! Thanks again for coming by for a look and for your comments too!

Warm regards
Leo

Coming from a fine photographer and a tough ex-Marine (if a Marine is ever an ex!) that is high praise indeed Charlie! I am glad you liked the captures. The lens did a fairly good job, but I do wish they had made the minimum focus closer...mind you it was made with portraiture and landscapes in mind, not near macros eh!

Warmest regards matey
Leo
Yes, the lens did a credible job because the photographer did an excellent job. Thanks for posting those, Leo.

Honestly

First 2 are not very well composed. The images look very busy and lack any design element.

The 3rd has red channel clipping, on my monitor.

Just my 2 cents

Nice images.
But, too much noise for my taste. That is really distracting.
It's a pity you are using that noisy camera.
IMHO.
Regards.

Nice shots as usual Leo, my favourite is the first one.

It is sort of sad that the weather will prevent these lovely flowers from reaching maturity.

Great shots Leo,
the first one is my favorite!
55 years that's a long time...they look in great shape ;)

Thanx for sharing...prepare yourself for some frosty morning soon.

Thanks for your honest opinion mate! I can see where you might think that! These flowers were all heavy with rain here and then they were drooping too for obvious reasons, so it was kind of hard to get down low enough to get better angles! Well hard for these old knees etc. ;-)
Thanks for your honest CC! I appreciate that!
Best regards
Leo

I am glad you liked the images! I am not sure what noise you are talking about because I can't see it here, but then these old eyes aren't what they used to be! I have heard this before about my shots after PP'ing and apparently there is a lot of colour noise so perhaps I am going to have to use Noise Ninja on these and see if that makes a difference! Thanks for the observation though! I am using a K20D at 400 ISO, so I don't think it should be noisy to the extent you say is bothering you!

All the best
Leo
