Canon may be happy but we are not. They would sell like hotcakes.anytime soon. Canon is probably happy with the IQ from the S90 and doesn't see the benefit/profit from a aps-c sensor based P&S.
I agree. bigger sensor = control over DOF, less noise and higher ISO. Not to mention being able to use better glass. The would sell ! The camera would only have to be slightly bigger than the G10/G11.Canon may be happy but we are not. They would sell like hotcakes.anytime soon. unless you want huge lens but not much focal length. The only reason we get cameras like G10/11 or the like is because sensor is small and lenses are small for the focal length.

The only time a smaller sensor with the same pixel count is superior to a larger sensor (aka higher pixel density) is when you are focal-length limited.

Hardly huge lenses. Look at the Leica M9. If they can do it, certainly Canon can do it.

anytime soon. Canon is probably happy with the IQ from the S90 and doesn't see the benefit/profit from a aps-c sensor based P&S.
remember the old film-based APS cameras. They had 3-5X zoom power, had autofocus and were compact cameras. No reason we couldn't have a digital version. However, we might lose some lens speed.unless you want huge lens but not much focal length. Umm, FILM point-n-shoots have been around for decades, and those are FULL FRAME!! The lens can be made small, and with zoom.unless you want huge lens but not much focal length. The only reason we get cameras like G10/11 or the like is because sensor is small and lenses are small for the focal length.
