In film, as the ISO increases, the grain increases and resolving power decreases.

What happens in digital? I know that the noise will increase, but will the resolving power decrease also?

I have tried shooting in ISO 400 under low-light conditions and found it unnecessary as ISO200 is good enough for most occasions. The sensitivity of the S2Pro is much higher compared to film.

Not sure if that helps.

Yes, the same as with film. The noise is like grain and it obviously diffuses detail. Having shot at 1600 ISO when comparing the noise in various ISO settings, the 1600 ISO setting is better than any 1600 ISO 35 mm film I have seen. I now shoot at 200 ISO standard as it is nearly like 100 ISO. One shorter shutter speed is a good thing.

What iso film would you think is comparable to iso 1600 digital, since iso 1600 digital is better than iso 1600 film? Comparable to iso 400/800 film?

During daylight shooting, the grain of the 1600 on the S2 looks like a 400 ISO film. During long exposures, the noise goes up and it behaves more like an 800 ISO film. Either way, it is very pleasing and sharp.
