the recall. I was one of the early ones to have to send in my D5000 twice. But I'm finding something now which is odd. No matter how many times I set my clock and time zone, it doesn't hold. The moment I turn off the D5000 and turn it back on again, it tells me to reset my time. All the other settings for IQ, etc., are just fine.

This did not occur prior to sending in the D5000 for the recall. What do you think this could be?

Has the main battery been removed from the camera for a long time?

From the D5000 manual, pg 21:

Hi Ben, I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the clock.

Thanks to JoKing for the info - "Camera clock is powered by an independent, rechargeable power source which is charged as necessary when the main battery is installed ..."

Sounds like the independent power source is either defective or not getting recharged correctly.

Tomorrow UPS is delivering my D5000 from its third trip to the Nikon Service facility. This time Melville, NY instead of Enfield, CT.

You may recall after returning from the second service advisory fix the LCD on my D5000 had that screened look. As if it was only getting partial power.

Hope your clock issue gets corrected soon.

I have had the samw thing happen twice. I rec'd my D5000 around the 1st of October. Twice when I turned the camera on, the clock had been reset. I always have a battery in the camera.
