Was checking out wireless flash syncs on ebay. Can buy a transmitter-receiver combo for about $15, perfect for inexpensive, experimental, off-camera flash. If I decide this fits into my style, I might purchase better units in the future, but right now I just want to experiment with a couple of leftover Vivitar 283's and some homemade flash diffusers.

If you've actually used an inexpensive (and I mean inexpensive) wireless sync on an Oly digital, I'd really like to hear about your experience.

I use the Cactus V2 ebay/chinese transmitter with two receivers, and it works 100% great. I didn't try extreme distances or anything, but within say 5m (about 20ft) it works fine more than 95% of the time. I consider it a failure when at least one receiver doesn't work - so far i never saw them both not going off.

I can easily recommend this system, especially for the price.

Cheers.

I dove into off camera flash a year ago with the exact set up you're considering. I have to say they've been very dependable, (95%+ reliability). I use mine on a 510 and my furthest distance has been about 50'. For the price, the set up is well worth it.

Can you please tell me - is the device you are discussing the same as the "PT-04" which I have also been looking at on ebay?
