I'm very much interested in that lens, since everything wide in Pentax mount is very pricey. This could be a economical alternative if the Image quality delivers.

I don't know anything about Sanyang as far as QC goes. The price looks attractive but it seems too good to be true. There's gotta be some dark underbelly somewhere on it.

Looking at the bulbus shape of the outer lens, I'd say its more like an overbelly.

Not as big as the 13mm f5.6 Nikon WA.

Sample shots look very good indeed, very reasonable edge to edge sharpness and very low CA with no sign of purple fringing, difficult to judge distortion with the sample shots, but they look okay, nothing to suggest anything extreme.

14mm is almost an ideal ultra wide FOV on APS-C at approx 90 deg, anything much wider begins to produce a rather unnatural perspective stretch. I shall keep an eye open for this lens to appear, at €259 (approx £235), it looks very attractive indeed. :D

"Samyang" doesn't sound Polish. Or is this just a local distributor?

Does this lens have the A setting? I assume it doesn't have AF.

From the press release:
Discover Samyang lenses like thousands delighted photographers all around the world!
Has anyone here ever used a Samyang?

I hope the press release is a translation because there are typos in it. If the press release has typos, I wonder what the QC on the lens will be.

I believe they (Delta) are the European distributor for Samyang, which is a Korean company, some of the lenses are branded Rokinon, Albinar, Vivitar, Polar etc.,

I believe so, their 8mm fisheye and 85mm f1.4 certainly are A style. You are correct, they are MF lenses.

....LCE sell Samyang in the UK but at a ridiculous mark-up (take off the $ or Euro sign and replace it with a £...).

I bought the 85mm f1.4 recently (Opteka brand but it's the same lens; even came with Samyang instruction leaflet) from 47th St Photo via Amazon.co.uk. and they were significantly cheaper than LCE even after postage! Delivery was very quick too (less than a week).

If the 14mm is as good as the 85mm, it will be stunning value. The 85mm is as good as lenses many times the price when used wide open, although others pull ahead when you stop down (not much of an issue for what is really designed to be a portrait lens).

For Pentax, Samyang lenses are "A" and talk to the camera fine.

The Samyang 14 2.8 lens, like the 85 1.4 is basically the same design as Vivitar, Bower, Polar, Falcon lenses. B&H sells the Bower and Vivitar versions of these lenses. I believe the 85 1.4 is around $350 USD.

lenstip.com has sample images from the Falcon version of the Samyang 14 2.8. From f2.8 to f5.6 sharpness looks pretty good. At f8.0 the samples look a little soft at 100%.

i have been considering the 8mm lens
and, i am interested to see this FL, too.
manual focus for either the 8 or the 14 does't seem much of a detriment.

the thing has a snoz, though, doesn't it !

more test images here

Dont know about this but its going to be a big beast and not a viable option to the DA lens !!!
