I keep seeing the compare posts to Nikon and Fuji. Well the camera's are close I agree, but...... The battery pack alone is worth buying the D100. It is awsome, just drop batteries in, take one out charge it, use it with one. So easy. Used to think E-10 had best battery pack, not any more, D100 so easy to use and last well. With the D60 and slow auto focus and the Fuji with no battery pack and other than that most things equal, don't know why you would'nt want D100 unless you have Canon glass. Sorry I am just tired of posts comparing the two, and I love the D100 and the battery pack. It would drive me nuts having to load two types of batteries and more often. Oh me oh my gotta love my D100!!!!

I agree. This was one reason I waited several weeks for the D100, although the S2 was in stock and ready to go.

I have had my D100 about 3 weeks now and have taken approximately 2500 images (all large, fine JPG). I am on my 3rd (!!!) battery charge. True, I don't use the playback option a great deal, but I do use the flash on approximately 1/4 of my images.

I bought a second battery when I bought the D100, being aware of needing a second battery routinely with my D1 and D1x... not so with the D100. No matter what I do, I have not been able to use up a D100 battery in an all day shooting session...

While the rechageable battery is a nice feature-I am leaning towards the S2 simply because I own an SB-28 flash. From what I understand this flash will not work on the D100, so I would have to buy an SB-80DX at an additional cost of $350. Certain features are great but others (such as flash compatibility) have forced me to look elsewhere.

Did you ever try to change multiple AA batteries when you are in some difficult situation (extended on the tip of a boat for example) or things like that?

With my previous camera I had AA and it was driving me crazy, you are holding the camera, yourself, one extra lens in the pocket and guess what you run out of battery, you start to change them, you lose your balance, you are putting your second battery while the first one goes out. ANd we are talking about professional cameras? And look at the fuji charger, it is pathetic.

Till now I saw only the people that does wedding really appreciating the S2.

For about $30 you can buy a spare battery tray for the S2.....AA last about 300 shots + you can buy them anywhere...after about 1000 shots still have not changed cr123 batteries I don't use internal flash since my Nikon sb25 flash works perfect with my s2...including the infrared focus light. And if you don't want to use the cr123 you don't have to (you will no internal flash)...and the usa model S2 doesn't come with a charger but come comes with a power supply.
