Jim, hope you like the pictures, I tried my best.
Congratulations, you deserve this moment of fame.

I also wanted to say how impressed I've been to see how tight the community of the STF is. Maybe I should buy a Sony camera...

I really enjoyed doing this, I felt like having some kind of mission to accomplish :-)

Jim, I will send you by email the URL of the website I'm going to upload the full-sized unprocessed pictures to. This way you can do your own processing and do whatever you like with those.
Once again, congratulations.

Take care.

christo,

Nice job.

Did you have to wait for the pictures to cycle or did you get them all in one pass?

Christo,

I agree :-) A wonderful gesture and a very nice shot (much nicer than the streaming web view). Thanks for taking the time.

If only I could have had all of them in one pass ! No no no, I spent more than one hour there, trying to catch the better angle. The picture wasn't staying more than 5 sec, and the cycle was about 5 min long.

I had to deal with the "I don't know how you call this" video interference effect. You know, like when you want to make a picture of your screen. It gets all blurry because of the screen refreshment frequence. Anyway, with a certain angle it was quite OK.
I'm glad you guys like the pictures.

Wonderful shot! Thanks for getting back to us. I'm sure Jim will be very happy to see this. :)
Very nice grouping of shots there.
I also wanted to say how impressed I've been to see how tight the
community of the STF is. Maybe I should buy a Sony camera...
Yes, it's a pretty neat place to hang out. :)

You're catching it during a wave of excitement as we await announcements at Photokina. So everyone is anxious and vigilant right now. Of course, about two or three weeks after the news, things quiet down, and then get downright volcanic upon the actual release of new cameras. Sometimes things get unpleasant when we start finding problems with the camera, and feelings get hurt. THe STF can be volatile. When it's good, then it's one of the best forums here. WHen it's bad, people start to leave (temporarily). But they always come back.

This is the power of the Sony cameras and the STF.

hahahahahahahahahah

Enjoy. And I hope we do see more of you!

You are a prince. Outstanding effort and excellent coverage. After looking at your gallery I feel like I've been there.

And a beautiful gift to her. I'm glad to contribute to this.

Christo,

Sincerely, I can't thank you enough for this. It really means a lot to me, I was quite disappointed that I couldn't get there to see it live - you took care of that for me!

I don't care what kind of camera you have, you're welcome around here anytime!!!

My deepest gratitude!

Jim

Thanks Christo for doing such an amazingly wonderful job (and spending the better part of an hour in Times Square to get it just right is waaaaaaay beyond the normal call of duty). I'm sure Jim (Shutter) will be so thrilled that you went to all that trouble for him! What a neat thing for both you and Shutter!

This is the first I've heard of this, so what a cool honor for Jim to have...his daughter's face lighting up Times Square! Waaaaay Cool!!! and what a great honor for Jim! Cheers! Nee :)

...Hmmmm...I wonder...does Kodak know that Jim's camera is digital and not a Kodak brand, lol!?! Yaaay Sony! (and yaaay Christo's Nikon 880, too!)

ps. Christo--you can be an honorary stf (and Scopes!) member any time you like! As Zipper says, we bow to you in humble appreciation!

To post your photos for comments and critique, come join us at http://www2.communityzero.com/scopes , a community of Sony digital camera owners and STF members. Hope to see you there! Nee

An hour.... again, thanks for working so hard, and it was worth it (for me, anyway!).

I'm sure glad your swung by STF when you did!

Shutter, I was wondering when you'd be back around! :-))

I'm glad that all of this paid off. I knew that if we got even ONE person there in NYC with a digicam, we'd be alright. Looks like this was one of our true successes here in the forum. One of the more memorable ones, certainly. It's like we all shared in the joy of a POTD.

It's like an STF POTD!!!

Okay, I went to far. hahahahahahah... It's YOUR Picture of the day. And I'm glad we were able to help out.

BTW, christo is using a Nikon 880 for that shot. Beautiful, isn't it? This is one reason I'm likely going to get a small camera "for my wife". (okay, okay, okay, we all know what I mean by that...)

haha, well, thanks Zip. But notice how I never mentioned anything about this Kodak POTD thing? I didn't want the competition!!! lol

Of course I was going to be back around. But I've got all three kids by myself today, so it's a bit insane around here!

And you're right, this was truly an STF effort, and I thank each and all. I'll probably post a note to that affect after things settle down this weekend.

And huge thanks to you, Ulysses, for the "Call" thread!

Thanks Nee! It was pretty cool to see her up there! It really didn't hit home until I saw Christo's shots!

And I used to shoot with a 1mp Kodak, so I have a soft spot! In fact, several of my exhibition photos in the challenges have been with a kodak!

And Nikon done good, too! :-)
