No one has commented on the 800ISO . This I find the most valuable
addition(that is if the noise level is acceptable)
Actually, the initial post in the thread mentioned it. We're just
taking it all in.
What I find interesting about the ISO 800 is two things:
1. Is this the first time that Sony has gone with an ISO 800? Even
the D-770 of old, the cult favorite of lots of pros and high-end
amateurs, only went up to ISO 400. So, Sony is daring to be bolder
here.
2. Usually when a company is moving up to the next level in
sensitivity, it also means that they are more or less happier with
the way they deal with noise. Now, that doesn't mean NECESSARILY
that the camera is indeed less noisy. But the designers feel
happier about something they've accomplished in this area.
3. Yes, one final thing. If the noise is indeed lower, then
ASTROPHOTOGRAPHERS who are interested in the Cyber-shot have a lot
to get all tingly about !!!
The users will have to determine whether the designers have gotten
it right.
Lots of exciting stuff to come.
