Hi,

I just recently purchased an HVL-F32X flash to use with my F707. I let my friend borrow the camera and a flash for a short trip, and she forgot the accessory cable at the place she was staying. Does anyone know where to purchase a new cable for cheap? Or is there a place that sells the connector on the flash's end so that I can make my own cable

I did a search, and found some results from a few years ago, but no one knew what kind of connector was used back then.

Thanks,
LB

once upon a time, I made a number of cables and I got the parts from Mouser Electronics.

2.5mm 4 conductor plug and cord assy (pt no 172-7425)
2.5 mm 4 conductor jack (pt no 161-6425)

The part number 172-7426 is a better choice than 172-7425 in that the plug is the 90 degree type. And FWIW, Mouser is super to deal with!!

It takes a good, small soldering iron and a bit of experience in fine soldering but no really big deal. Be sure to use electronic solder!!!

BTW, we have used these cables together for a total length of 15 meters with no problems.

Hi busch,

Thanks for the response! This site looks great, do you have the part number for the connector that attaches to the flash? I don't think I've ever seen a connector like this before so I'm not sure if it's a standard type or Sony-specific.

I'm okay with soldering so I'd rather purchase the parts so I can make cables of different lengths.

I forgot you lost the main cable! Right off hand I do not know the part number for that connector but as I recall it is a standard connector for some electronic devices. I know this came up a time or two in the past and some one had the answer. I have to see if I can find anything in the old files.

a Molex SATA 7 pin cable might work. Should be able to find that at a good computer shop.

Wow, I can't believe they want $43 for the cable. I'll check out the molex cable, thanks!

Updated information in case anyone finds this and cares.

The cable is apparently still available from Encompass. Sony's part number is

9-876-265-12

The link is here:

9-876-265-12 Sony Sm Hvl-f32x 03 Us Can Aep

Its 11-ish dollars plus shipping. I put one on order and the total was 20 ish.

Just picked up a 32X for my 717 and I think the sync cable is defective. Hope its not my camera body.
