I've had a whirlwind past few weeks, and I've barely picked up my camera. Finally, today, with nothing immediate looming, I grabbed my K200D along with some lenses and headed out the door. I had the DA 12-24, the FA 31, the FA 77, and the D-FA 100 macro with me, but as the day wore on I found myself only using the D-FA 100, and by the end I decided that I was going to do the whole day with just the one lens, like an endurance test.

And it was, of sorts. I started out walking through what I've dubbed "The Sinister Forest," then headed for a well-trodden path I know well. But I've set a goal for myself to go somewhere new every time I go out, so I headed down a random dirt road with no idea where it ended. Good news, though - it was all downhill! So I forged ahead until the dirt path turned into a gravel path that turned into a road, and in the end I wound up kind of lost. I had to climb a hill to get my bearings, and then I realized that the only way to get home was to go back the way I came.

Uphill.

I walked about six miles today, and here are some photos to prove it. I realize that they're all rather monotonous in processing, but I've decided to try to put together some photos that have the same tone to them eventually, and I figured some of these might make the cut.

I hope you enjoy!

All good Keitha but the second leaf for me.

i like it...the monotony doesn't bother me, it creates a common theme and from my view announces the end of summer and a shift into the colder fall~

I couldn't possibly pick a favourite, but I was immediately struck by the first one.

And how on earth did you get that floating spore (is that what it's called?) rising out of the dandelion?

very elegant shots, i love them.

cheers,

rene

@ Dean: Thank you! I rather fought with that one to get it in focus, so I'm glad it paid off :)

@ magomago: Thank you. It's definitely colder here in Germany!

@ zxaar: I'm glad you enjoyed them :)

@ Mike: I was quite thrilled to find a little group of poppies growing in the shadows of some cornstalks. I had thought poppy season was over - and since they're my favorites, this would have been a shame indeed.

@ Lance: Thanks for stopping by! I'm trying to simplify my post-processing at the moment, so I'm glad to hear you liked it.

@ jonska: The first shot I posted was the first shot of the day that made me kind of sit back and think, "Oh yeah, this is why I have all this gear!" And as for the dandelion, that spore (or whatever it is) is actually attached somehow to the rest, although it looked like it was floating even to me, and even from different angles. The wind was fierce at moments, but that spore just hung on, and I snapped away, terrified it would finally break free before I had a chance to get the whole thing in focus.

@ Jerry: Thank you so much!

@ rene: I'll take having my shots being called elegant any day. Thank you!

@ Demarp: Thank you! I'm glad you liked the entire series. I've been trying to keep in mind the idea of making matching collections while I shoot.

@ Joe: Thank you! As I mentioned above to Dean, that leaf was stubborn. I had to hold the camera up and away from my face - about 18" - to get that close. I just kept the middle bit viewable through the viewfinder by squinting my eye. I call it my version of "live view."

K......

I just have to tell you....

You really have great vision...well done!

Really

Really nice Keitha!

You have caught the sadness of autumn in a beautiful manner. At least for me it is sad when "everything" fades away, the colours, the bird's song, the warm nights, the light.

Thank you for sharing & glad you found your way back home!
