getting too much noise

No. Only the really bad ones, IMO. I personally didn't think the original pic was bad enough to spend 2-minutes on, but you did...and I wanted to show those pesky Oly owners that there was noise there. ;-)
Ouch! Charlie! That hurt.
Not too much, I hope. I was just having fun at your (collective) expense. ;-)

Yes. 100%!

There are cheaper ways to learn (I charge $30/hr). ;-)
If you get into a "class" with several students, the per-hour charge drops.

Our local HS has an Intro to PS class for $118...it is split into six 2-hour sessions...they provide the computers and software (PSE)...you just show up). That is less than $10/hour.

Community Colleges often have these classes too.

Then there are the on-line video seminars...try:

And you can buy books...there are thousands of books.

Oh, and Adobe has free on-line tutorials.

Or, you could just "hang out" on the Retouching Forum here on dpr. Those guys are good...you will slowly learn PS just by reading how they help others. When you get good enough (and bold enough) to start a thread there, they will help you faster . :-)

Yes.

You are welcome. Somebody had to tell you!

PS is fun, once you get past the last paradigm shift. But be aware that PS is changing ...there is a new "flavor" of PS called LightRoom...it's the future of PS. You would be wise to skip the PSE => CS route and start out with LR. Adobe has a free 30-day trial. Go look at LR and see if it makes sense to you. The advantage of skipping the conventional PS paradigm is that it forces you into a corner and it's hard to get out of that corner. LR is a fresh approach (modeled after Apple's Aperture) and it is a perfect way for a beginner to start out. It will still require you study and learn however.
