my 1st ir

Me too! I saw my own lake pictures! From my storage bin - where they shouldn't even be, they are organized in an album.

Could it be some cookie on the computer, so that it thinks we want to go to My Imagestation? Do you have WinXP, Niikinut?
I get my "storage bin" at Image station!! - My own pictures!!
Too weird.

Anyone else...what do you get??

Bewildered in Omaha! ( just kiddint)

Couldn't see it either.

I got the "Join ImageStation" screen, asking me to become a member.

Interesting aside:

I'm already a member, but for some reason, even when I log on to "My Imagestation", I have to use my passwords, as it no longer stores my passwords in a cookie. even when I check the "remember my password" box.

I'm trusting that site less and less every day. Sometimes it drops my uploads completely. Don't know for 20 minutes, then I get a "corrupted image upload" message. Glad I don't pay for the service.

Okay Henry - here we go:

Open up your picture in your storage bin.
Now right click.. and click on properties.
"copy" the URL or address
Come back here, open a message, and "paste" the URL in your message.

Check the preview box before you post. This way, you can SEE first if it worked.
Good luck, looking forward to seeing your picture.
Don't feel bad - just try again :^)))

If you want to embed the image in the message, do the following:

prepare an image the size suitable for inserting in a message, say... 640 x 480. If it's a .jpg, that's the normal type we like to see here. .gif's and .bmp's work too, but they're either fuzzy or too large a file size to work for most dial-ups.

log onto your imagestation. Make an album, if you haven't already done so.

upload image(s) to that album. If you're embedding the pic in a message, it can be any type of album, public or private.

Click "continue" to go to your album you just added a picture to.

click the picture thumbnail you want us to see.

If its a mid-size image, click it again. You should then see the 'full sized' shot (the aforementioned 640 x 480 or whatever size you wanted to display to us) in a new window.

copy and paste the URL from the Address Box (if using IE) to notepad or something temporarily.

log off image station.

post message at DPReview, make your message and then paste in the URL from notepad into the message. It will be a long string with a .jpg already on the end of it (actually you'll see it will have a couple .jpg's at the end - don't worry about that).

sign and post the new message.

Well said David! We should copy this and keep it handy. I remember when I was trying to figure it out too.
Good job,

I have had a lot of trouble uploading pictures, too. It often interrupts and drops the upload, starts over again, and in the end it takes forever - even with my fast broadband service, so I give up. It has been happening almost daily, so I have tons of pictures to upload. Very early mornings (like before 5) works best, but my god! I don't want to make a habit of that!

Hoo Rah!

They look good.

You can also post a link to the album for us to view the full-sized shots, assuming you have decided to put full-sized shots there.

There's a feature when you're in your album (logged in as proper user account) that will display the HTML code to the album. You must be on the album's first page to use that feature.

It will display the code in a little text window box. You won't need all the code. Just the 'htt........' stuff. If you use the same technique to temporarily park the URL, or the whole code in notepad, just copy/paste the URL part into the DPR STF message and we'll be able to go to the album as a link.

I only do that myself for Public albums. The viewer will also be able to look at all your other Public albums, but not your Private albums.

Henry,

Nice shots for your first try. What IR and ND filters are you using? Be careful though, ionce you start with these IR shots its hard to stop

But it will apparently work only for you now.

Forget what I just posted about linking your album. It won't work anymore.

Just found out that all my Public and private album links are kaput. Gone.

ImageStation has put the clamps on people going directly to someone's album without also joining ImageStation. This is new. This is not good.

Then do what I said about copying the URL link to the entire album. Save the URL somewhere.

Try signing off imagestation, and clear your browser cache. You might have to close your browser and re-launch it.

Try to open the link to the album. Seeing the album withour it asking you to become a member? Good. If that works for you, then it might work for someone else. It doesn't work for me.

If it doesn't go directly to your album and asks instead to join, then make the album Public.

The album should be searchable by subject or username. Try mine for an example. Bikeman.

You should see three bikeman's listed. I'm the middle one, the real 'Bikeman' There are 2 public albums. That's a way to circumvent the signup box.
