Hi,

There were interesting colors in the sky but unfortunately my G2 was at home. When i manage to reach home and shot this picture, sky was already becoming dark. Color didn’t seem to be interesting anymore. I will welcome any help in improving colors in this picture using PhotoShop.

Thanks
AG

Its my first post here for a long while just happned to open this one and thought I should tell you that this image needs no improvement - maybe slight leveling but that's all I would do. It makes a very fine abstract and I like it as such. Recently I have discovered though that these kind of fine abstarcts get more interesting ifthere is a sharp contrast in front (side or bottom) tree top, columns anything that will generate a feeling of depth and contrast will do.

Hope you don't mind me sharing this thought with you

Atif,

It is easy - in Photoshop press ctrl-L and adjust the input level left and right limits:

After that your new histogram display would have regular form:

There is a little noise in this image - you could correct the noise using for example Neat Image from: http://www.neatimage.com/

The result would be better if the image is in TIFF format.

The best is to shoot in RAW - then you could make the same correction to the histogram before converting the Raw image (using for example Breeze Browser from: http://www.breezesys.com ) and also you could set-up the right white balance if necessary.

Roumen
Thanks for your help Roumen.

Hi Atif, IMO you will never get this picture interesting just improving colors. You should have included a foreground object so that eyes could lay on it - There is just nothing to look at... so... i just added a few ... :-)

Hi Randy,

I agree 100% with you. That´s why I have NEVER made any addition to my pictures, besides some minor cloning of unwanted items is pictures - very rarely.

However, IMHO and don´t intending to minor Atif Ghazi picture, I wouldn´t classify this as a "good photo" (subjective) - I think that he doesn´t consider too - In fact, as he said, he missed the moment because he hadn´t the camera when he wanted to take the pic.
Regards,
Paulo:

You have got to be kidding! You ruined a good photo with the
amateurish Photoshop additions. Just because you can do it in
Photoshop doesn't mean you should.

Then why did Atif write?...

Fantastic! Yes, there are the right colors. Can you please write down the workflow as i have lot of other picture for that day. This will really be helpful.
Thanks for your help Roumen.

I believe Atif was really grateful that Roumen helped him retrieve a missed photo opportunity. And, IMHO...I believe that Roumen did just that, beside I also enjoy abstract sunsets immensely. As a matter of fact, I have several like Atif's in my collection.

When people of varying skills ask for help on this forum, we would do well to encourage instead of saying..."well if I were you, I wouldn't have done it that way, and to prove my point...look what I've done to your photo".

Atif just missed a great photo opportunity, so he tried to salvage what he could and was glad to receive the help. I applaud him for that. IMHO.
