--One negative point about going across the border is you are really sacrificing your Canadian warranty too in the interest of saving some bucks. It is really disheartening though to see the price converted to $2100.00 when our US neighbors only have to pay around $1700.00...wouldn't it be nice to truly be on par? I do like how CameraCanada always sweetens the pot by throwing in memory.
--You're right Canon's warranty is US and Canada. http://canoncanada.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4633 Something that Nikon refuses to do. They won't accept a body purchased in the US for warranty or paid repair. I bought a 40D in the US. When first released they were cheaper in the US and available earlier so I drove from Vancouver to Seattle and bought it at Kenmore Camera. I can't remember how much I saved but if memory serves it was a few hundred dollars. GST and PST paid $0--I'm pretty sure Canada/US warranty is the same.
Brian SchneiderI no longer have the 40D but I'd happily buy from the US again.
I moved back to Toronto and these days if I'm buying camera gear in Canada I prefer Camera Canada. IME the service is better than Henrys or Vistek although both companies have a longer period during which they'll accept returns.
