You're right Canon's warranty is US and Canada. http://canoncanada.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4633 Something that Nikon refuses to do. They won't accept a body purchased in the US for warranty or paid repair. I bought a 40D in the US. When first released they were cheaper in the US and available earlier so I drove from Vancouver to Seattle and bought it at Kenmore Camera. I can't remember how much I saved but if memory serves it was a few hundred dollars. GST and PST paid $0 I no longer have the 40D but I'd happily buy from the US again.

I moved back to Toronto and these days if I'm buying camera gear in Canada I prefer Camera Canada. IME the service is better than Henrys or Vistek although both companies have a longer period during which they'll accept returns.

actually they've changed that it seems. at least in Ontario .. I asked UPS about that .. only GST .. the last 4 or so purchased I've done have only had GST in the last 5 or so months.
