Assuming Dell is really getting a batch on the 27th. Either way, your status probably won't change until the night of the 27th. Hopefully it'll be a tracking #.

For those counting, that's about 300,000 orders behind other threads I've read.
Perhaps Dell will have a good deal on the D90 by the time I get mine ;-,
What really p*sses me off is that 3 different Dell associates assured me that it would arrive by 8/27/02. I'm sending each one of them investment ideas, ya know...swamp land in Florida and the like.

almost the identical situation happened last year with dell and a great price with the canon G2. a ton of people placed orders, were given shipping dates, got delayed notices, people started getting disgusted and cancelling orders (including me) BUT LO AND BEHOLD, dell started shipping and a whole bunch of people got their G2s in time and got a great deal. it might be worthwhile to hop over to the canon forum and read the archives to see how history might repeat itself. 
as for my sob story, i put the D60 in my shopping cart and decided to wait until i could get home and ask my wife first. she said yes but by the time i got back online, dell had removed the D60 from their site.

Why is this thread dead? Have everyone given up on Dell? My estimated ship date still says "on or before August 27th", one more day to find out whether it means anything. What are your thoughts?

I can't find the D60 on Dell's website anywhere. Did they remove it because it is not in stock? I want to order it now, while the 10% off sale is going on, I don't mind at all if it takes a while to ship...any ideas?

I too am waiting to find out the deal tomorrow. The Dell customer rep I spoke to today said he was "very optimistic" that those delayed D60's (or at least mine) would ship tomorrow. Let's post tomorow after further developments.

I really hope that they keep there word and we all get shipments tomorrow. If not I dont mind waiting another week, heck we saved 220.00 bucks, who else can say that!!!

Well, I too ordered in the frenzy on the 22nd. It is 10:15am on 8/27 and I just checked my order status. It still says delayed and than it is not in stock. I'm not very optimistic that it will ship today, but who knows? My biggest concern is how big is the backorder queue and where am I on the list. I have not having any luck getting that information from Dell's customer service department. It's no big deal if they can deliver in a week or two. I just hope it does not turn into another 60 day wait like Ritz.

Yes, same person, I got "cold feet" about cancelling order and decided to check and see if they really did cancel, (ha, I know how screwed up Dell is!,and sure enough they had not cancelled order. She went away for several minutes and came back on the phone stating that yes, she was "sure" it would ship today, go figure!
