Is there a way one can use the on camera flash as a fill in light when using the 3600HS(D) remotely?

I have tried it but all the on camera flash does is provide enough light to triger the 3600HS. When I use my 700si with 5400SH, I can use a number of different ratios It would of been nice if the 540HS would of worked with the Di7i, but unfortunately it doesn't.

Cheers,
Rudi.

I don't have an external flash or even a D7i (I have a D5)--but the manual for the D5/D7 says the 5600HS(D) and 3600HS(D) work with the cameras and I would be surprised if Minolta changed that for the D7i. Are these the flash units you have? The note about external flash units is on p.138 of the D5/D7 manual (online at Minolta's site in Acrobat format if you need it). Perhaps you can make an improvement by changing the flash metering mode? Good luck. - Jean

Hi Jean,
The 3600HS(D) does work with D7i. However, I would like to use the on camera flash as a fill and the 3600HS off camera as a main. I have read the manual back to front but it does not mention this configuration. It would seem that all you can do with the on camera flash is use it to triger the 3600HS(D).
