Leaked images of new panny m 4/3

This looks really interesting.

With built-in flash, it could be EP1 killer, for sure.

It will be interesting to see the differences with the OLY PEN F.
As a G1 owner any new micro 4/3 camera with new lens release is welcome.
Lets see what pricing will be like on this one.

Thanks for the link, I guess the micro 4/3rd will be the new rumored next release talked about in this forum and not a newer version of an LX3.

The only thing bothering me is no in body IS, at least the the oly EP-1 you have that on non stabilised lens.

I agree; otherwise it looks very promising from a form&function standpoint. (I'd also avoid any Panny camera that uses their wacky proprietary battery system.)

It certainly looks like an LX3 on steriods--a good thing in my book.

Cheers,

Rick

Looks like the big brother of the LX3. If for real I think it's a good thing overall. My guess is that they will have to keep the price competitive for it to sell, and therefore bet around $750US for the starting price.

Dynamic B&W and fast primes...

One thing that I use quite frequently on my LX3 is the focus button (I stay in manual focus as much as I can). Is this not included because it is no longer relevant with detachable lenses?

Otherwise, I am intrigued by this. One other thing that might bother me though is having detachable lenses will probably mean I can't put this in my pocket or I'll probably wind up with a lot of dust leaking in, even if I rarely change lenses. Is this a valid concern?

Disclaimer: I'm pretty new to photography. Only had my LX3 for a few months, and before that had a Sony F-717 for a few years.

Kinda stinks that there's no in-body stabilization. :(
I agree with that to some extent, but I keep a little mini-tripod with me now for those occasions. It's small enough that I just leave it attached to my LX3, which it folds under fairly nicely and still fits in my pocket. :)

Could this MFT be with the Backlight sensor technologie ????
And could this one have a OLED screen ????

Can this page be translated please, there can be some additional info in there. thanks.

Google translate (Chinese -> English) does a fair job at it.

For some reason the posts run chronologically in reverse though. That threw me off at first :)

On one of the pictures shows a Leica branded prime, which is interesting because the other picture shows that it is not.

If you're referring to the joystick on the LX3, that would indeed be of limited use on such a camera and irrelevant for manual focus.

The process of focusing manually on this camera would involve moving a ring on the lens. (Even though the focus ring is actually an electronic, not a mechanical, device on a modern lens).

Dust would not be a major concern. All current m4/3 cameras and many DSLRs have a dust-removal mechanism that shakes the sensor at very high speed whenever the camera is turned on. It works.

As for pocketability, when a pancake lens is mounted it should only be slightly larger than the LX3 -- often pocketable with coat pockets, but rarely with pants pockets. Obviously it won't really be pocketable if you leave home with multiple lenses or are using a relatively large lens that day.

Excellent point. I completely forgot about that, as I have never used a camera with external lenses before.

Good to know. Thanks :)

That sounds good. I nearly always wear cargo pants or shorts, or dress pants with roomy pockets. For example, I have a mini tripod attached to my LX3 at all times and it still fits fine with what I wear most of the time. :)

Thank you for the reply!

I don't see a VF/LCD button anywhere on the camera at all... But I agree, I suspect (and very much hope) the connector is for a external EVF. God knows how much that accessory will cost though...

Rebel XT, XTi, Pany LX-3, FZ-28, Fuji F30, and a lot of 35mm and 4x5 sitting in the closet...

FWIW the Ricoh EVF costs less than their OVF. No telling what Panny might do, considering what they charge for a stinking battery.

Cheers,

Rick
