In the last issue of the French magazine "Chasseurs D'images", # 246, on page 12, top of the page, there is an article about several new products from Canon that supposedly will be presented at "Photokina". One of them could be a new digital Pro SLR named Canon EOS D-120 with 12 Mpix (with 2 sensors Cmos 6 Mpix put together for a total of 12 and an almost 35mm film frame). I would appreciate some feedback on this.

Thanks/Regards,

I was visiting a friend of mine whose in with the manufacturers to see his D100 yesterday and he was talking about a new Canon also.

He said all he knew was it would be a 64 megabite capture... not sure how many megapixels that would be considering the D100 is 18 megs...

Me thinks they ough to stick to using recylced paper and leave the recycled rumors out of the magazine...

I agree, since a Dxxx series camera would be a replacement for the D60 and that camera has not even exhausted market demand yet.

Isn't rumor season fun ;-)

I'm pretty sure this same magazine claimed, before the D60 came out, that Canon would come out with a camera that used two D30 sensors next to each other...

Dear Mark:

I probably should have started by saying that "Chasseur D'images" mentioned the fact that it was only a rumor. This been said they are very often right regarding new products. Now don't ask me how Canon is going to put together the 2 CMOS sensors, I have no idea...

I don't know about the two-sensors crazy-glued together ... but I don't think anyone doubts Canon will be making a 12 mpx DSLR, either. The magazine just forgot to mention that this will be a few years down the line...

Here's news from my crystal ball: Canon is going to make a higher res camera after that!

Some of the things they print turn out to be true and some do not. When the rumors of the 400 DO lens were circulating, they ran reports indicating that it would cost $2,000-2,500. What was the introduction price, $6K? (My recollection of the details may be faulty, but they missed it by a lot.) As long as you know not everything has been or can be 100% verified, there's nothing wrong with them circulating a few rumors. It's better than hearing absolutely nothing. Just take it with a grain of salt.

Do they still have an English language web page? They used to but I couldn't find it last time I looked, and the Google French translation isn't too great.

Caffine and nicotine ^ ^

Yup Canon will make a 12Mp DSLR, but I doubt it will be 2 D60 sensors joined together. And I doubt it will be Full Frame either, well not before 2004 anyway.

when the 1D was only a rumor and the D60 was also, they "reported" some of the rumors that where floating around here first. In fact, there was one individual who claimed a lot of inside info who later confessed that he it was all BS. All of his claims were reported in Chasseur as "inside info" and were wrong!

I think it will be very difficult to put together 2 CMOS sensors. It is much easier to put together 3 CMOS sensors. Like in some video cameras, using 1 sensor for each color...
