Hi guys,

after my mushroom thread, and the C&C, i thought i must have another go, after all whats the point of asking for C&C if you don't listen to it.

Sharpness- no sharpening at all this time.

Background- a completely natural organic one, no PP at all.

Your cone reminds me of a turd- well i hope you can see more clearly that it is indeed a fir cone this time, lol.

14-140 kit lens.

Exif in the image.

This time i used zero sharpening in the BDsizer for the web prg.

C&C most welcome please.

Hi Mark

I like this. The last version, with the unnatural white back ground, left a dark fringe around the mushroom. Do you feel that because G1/GH1 images can be sharpened to the point of distraction, that you can get carried away just seeing how much detail you are able to find. I know that sometimes I do. This version is great, not too soft, making it more appealing in its environment.

Hi Richard, yes is the answer, ever since i opened the box of my brand new G1 i have had the sound of " the G1 is so soft, what a crap lens " ringing in my ears, and i suppose i have been on a quest to prove the nay sayers wrong.

I missed you original thread so I had to go back and see where all of this started.

This image is much improved over the previous ones.

I would have liked to see the rear (top?) mushroom within the DOF sharpness envelope but having it a bit OOF doesn't markedly detract from the overall image.

Excellent job.

Thanks Ralph, the slight OOF on the left mushroom was intentional because i didn't really want your eye flicking from one to the other causing a distraction, if it has i'll work on that next time, maybe just keep one subject in the frame.

I didn't see your earlier "lesson," but this one looks quite good. Actually, it rather resembles a green brain with a couple of mushrooms growing out. Might be a life metaphor? ;-)

And I do like the back mushroom OOF. While the foreground is perfectly sharp, the back plane gives it some dreamy quality.

But the greenish support thingy... Have you been eating spinach? :P

Hi John, i wasn't trying to give a lesson but to learn from my previous mistakes, i suppose a brain is better than a turd, as it was described in my other thread.

Thanks for looking.

I really like the lighting on this one, definite improvement over the previous images. Planning on getting GH1 myself when they are actually available here in the US, images like this really get me amped.
