I don't know about you but I really like bridges. Here are some of the muscle bridges that I can never get tired of shooting in NYC. I took these while bike riding from Queens to Manhattan (except for Gapstow in B&W).

The "inspiring" D300 & 17-55mm or 18-200 VR lens @ ISO 200.

'Moody' Bridges [0.8s at f/7.1]

Brooklyn Bridge [1/640 at f/8]

Manhattan Bridge [1/320 at f/8]

Gapstow Bridge In Winter [1/640 at f/4.5]

Gapstow Bridge [1/160 at f/4]

Hell Gate Bridge HDR [3s at f/16]

Queensboro Bridge [1/1000 at f/8]

Manhattan & Brooklyn Bridges [1/400 at f/8]

Nice shots Dez and love the skys and bridges. We have boring bridges here in SD:(.

That last one would look amazing in black and white, taking advantage of the texture in the water (lighten the blues to make dark troughs prominent) and great cloud patterns in the sky (darken the blues to separate clouds), with the two bridges converging from the outside in. Also love the first one, the B&W, and the "green one" with the man and his dog.

Forgive my alternate interpretation, but just couldn't help myself as I dig the composition of this image:

Super quick conversion with a couple of masks and dodges.

I like bridges, too. #2 and #7 are my favorites in this set. Can you get a creative shot of the Verazzano Narrows -- any good vantage points? Is the bridge photogenic? My daughter will be firmly ensconced in Manhattan this fall for college, so I will likely make a trip or two in the next year and try to follow in your footsteps -- hopefully grabbing some NYC bridge shots, too (if I have the time).

Yes, the B&W treatment works very well. Nice.

Tacoma Narrows. Yes, two bridges. Old (1950) and new (2007).

Your Verazzano image -- yes, she is a beauty. But maybe almost too big to capture with the same level of detail that you have in your BB/MB pictures. Looks like you were in the vicinity of John Paul Jones Park (Shore Rd.; Belty Pkwy) during the afternoon hours. I will make a note of this. Thx.

Dez, this is a great series of finished images. Perhaps I didn't notice it before and I'm sure I've missed some stuff you've posted recently, but, aside from bringing out that gorgeous sky, it looks like you're taking your images to the next level in PP, doing more work in post to enhance them. While I could speculate about some of the techniques that might have produced some of what you've posted here, but I'd be interested in what you did that was beyond the basics -- if possible, with specific reference to the images to which you applied the techniques.

Hey Avi, thanks for the comments. All I did was selectively make adjustments to certain areas that needed tweaking. On the photos with the soft effect, I used the Color Efex plugin in moderation.

I usually like to keeps things looking natural but on occasion will do a little more processing to fit the mood :)

Nice, although it looks pretty desolate there.
Desolate. Naw, with Ennis just North.
Why there may be 1 ta 2000 people in the surrounding region.

And Hey, there were at Least 500,000 mosquitoes banging
all of the Fly fisherman there.
