B&H

Anybody has experience with BroadwayPhoto?

They have good prices on some equipment. But I'm not shure about how safe is to deal with them. Your feedback can be very helpfull for all of us!

NB! Their website can be found here: http://www.bwayphoto.com
To deal with Fedex, you simply stick a note on your door
authorizing them to leave the box. They'll do so and take that note
as a proof. But this applies to safe neighborhood.

Both are fine.

Except Adorama you cannot be assured of inventory via their
website. I have some other small problem with B&H not worth
mentioning here (again).

James
I won't deal with Adorama either after a bag experience either.
When I placed my order, I specifically asked if I had to be there
to sign for the package and was told no. When I got home from
work, I had the little note on the door saying a signature was
required. (It's a long way to the UPS office so having them hold
the package wasn't an option.) When I called Adorama about it,
they straight out called me a thief on the phone! I was a long
time customer too. I let UPS return the package and cancelled
the credit card charge when they tried to charge me for shipping.
I use B&H for just about everything now. I'm sure glad I don't
have any Ritz experience after all the problems I've been reading
about here.

Hi,

This is Michelle and I used to work at cw. Just thought I'd let you know, it is true. Cameraworld was ritz'd and we all lost our jobs. I used to work there in sales, now I am at Samy's Camera if any one was looking for me!
and by that time the D2
will be in stock at B&H or CameraWorld.
Sadly, Cameraworld was sold to Ritz a few months back.
I buy 99% of my stuff at B&H. Good prices, good service, propmpt
shipping, prompt tracking numbers. Zero problems.

Hey kids, it is sad and true, cameraworld got ritz'd and the folk who worked there including myself, michelle from sales, lost their jobs! I have heard nothing but horror stories about what happened to our customers and we are truly sorry, though, obviously, there was nothing we could do.
I am now with Samy's camera if anyone is looking for me. So are Rick and Rob.
They have the model correct. That is, they have learned to survive
as a B&M and a mail/Internet order store. Locals could follow suit.
There is only one B&H, like most local stores. I think the locals
could learn A LOT from B&H!

Ritz Camera can't hear you Steve. They would have to find out
what that 'new fangled city-folk' invention known as the INTERNET
is first. Then, after starring at hamsterdance.com for a few
months, they would finally read your post, and by that time the D2
will be in stock at B&H or CameraWorld.

Ritz is great for some things, but not really high-end friendly.
If you need an Olympus Stylus zoom, they will give you a good
price. If you need an F5, they will laugh at you and try to sell
an N65 with a Quantary lens.

Sites like these help people discover good stores like B&H and
Cameraworld, and show people exact specifications so they can
decide what is right for them.

it is a good day for the internet :)

i agree exactly...ritz, camera west, etc...whatever you call them...all the same company...they take forever!...bad service
After vowing never to deal with Ritz again I ordered my SB80DX from
B & H. The price was $60 lower. The web ordering was straight
forward.
I called to add on to the order and the person I dealt with was
polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Today (two days later) I have
the SB-80DX. You order/they deliver...what a concept...are you
listening, Ritz?
Steve

Yep, we were bummed too, I used to work there in sales, I'm Michelle and we all lost our jobs. I've heard horror stories about how they treated our customers after we left and it made me sad. I am now at Samy's and so are Rick and Rob if anyone is looking for us.

I don't have any major issues with Ritz but it does tick me off when I go looking for a decent lens and they tell me they don't stock stuff like that at their little stores! I'm sorry but they all look pretty much the same size to me! Then on top of that they tell me their depot store, some 60 miles away, has anything I could want... Well then get on the phone and get what I want to this little store! Sorry I was ranting.

Unfortunatly, Ritz has discovered the internet. Remember how they took their first Nikon D100 shipment, and instead of filling the prepaid orders, Ritz put the cameras up for auction on ebay, hoping to get more than list price.

So bend over, Ritz has a hamster for you ;) ;) ;)

Ciao!
