Hi!

I'm a photojournalist in Tanzania, my camera is fujifilm finepix S1pro, the resolution seting in my camera is 72, so can I increase resolution from the said number to 200? If so what should I do?

Please help.

I am always yours!

You cannot change in camera - this is the setting used for monitor viewing and should be changed for printing in your image manipulation software
Just go to the image drop down and select image size, your current
dpi will be displayed at 72, Just type in 200, make sure you
uncheck resample image.

This is the fastest way I know.

I find that the best way to resolve the resolution issue is to go to image size and click off the resample box then decide what your target size is (8x10, 5X7, 16x20,etc and the image will be reduced along with a related resolution. Good shootin Carl Friedman

Ellery,

I recommend unchecking the box, as you don't want Photoshop to resample, just change the dpi. This way you are only effecting the output dpi and not having anything done to the image structure.

I view all my images at 100% for sharpening, and the "fit to screen" for viewing. Most of my work is A3 11 x 16 or Super A3 12 x18.

I don't use Photohshop to resample up, or interpolate, as there are much better solutions.

My newspaper uses 200 DPI images as our default, but they come to us in all manner of sizes and formats. My D1H, for example, produces 72 DPI jpegs, but 300 DPI tiffs, of images that are the same resolution. And stuff that is emailed to us can be anything. When prepping an image, my first move is always to the F2 key, which I have programmed to be the resize action. It renders the resolution to 200 DPI without changing/resizing the pixel count. Just go to the action pallet in Photoshop and find the "create new action" dialog, and go from there. The manual has all the details.
