I have found that I am not nearly as steady @54 than I was at 24. I'm not so sure I can pull off a handheld image with the 50 + EC-25. Maybe with a beanpole though. (~ 8

Here are some recent attempts in combination with the E-3:

A cricket sitting between the cones of a Korean fir:

This one is cropped -not really a macro. Had to be quick to catch the buddy.

Wonderful assortment, the frog is cute.

How much working room is there with the Canon filter on the 150?

Jim, there is not much difference in "working room" that I noticed, other than the filter being about .625 thick.

Jeff

I have only used the combo once for samples of a tube flash set up for a friend here. It was hand held. I much prefer the 50mm, EC 20 combo for the same magnification and better working distance.

I do use the 35mm, EC 20 combo a lot hand held. With no mono pod or something to brace myself with, it gets very stressful after a few minutes.

I never said it was easy :p
