I was just about to take Sandra to the airport when our cat 'Chocolate' started growling with menace in her voice. We had heard her fights before, so I got the camera out of the bag. Her first reaction was to look at me, as if asking 'Are you going to back me up?'

I stood my ground, and 'Chocolate' started growling again and crawled forward.

The other cat was not going to fight the two of us, and moved away.

So I ask myself - what would have happened had I not been there?

Looks like Chocolate did a fine job of defending her turf. It's always good to have backup.
We got her from the SPCA, and got insurance for her. But when confronted with another cat she soon proved that she was her own insurance.
The other cat looked a little out of shape for much of a fight.
I have seen it leaving our garden after hearing a fight, so maybe it is not as poorly as it looks.
Excellent documentary of the confrontation, Henry.
It was luck, and knowing what I was hearing.

Thanks for looking.

Chocolate's a very fortunate little kitty - she's got a great home. Good shooting!

But she does take chances. Yesterday there was a lot of noise next door. When she came home her movements seemed a bit slower. Right now she sleeps in her chair.

Thanks for raising this thread from the dead.

Cats do that ( sigh ) ... as someone owned by four of them (and one beleaguered dog) that's something I can attest to on a daily basis. Only two of them are allowed outside and they often have spats between themselves in addition to what strays may be passing through... they're very self-confident creatures with no real thought that they might actually come out on the short end of a scuffle.

You're quite welcome. I do not visit these forums as often as I'd like, and your photos definitely deserved comment :)
