The old gear is not ready to be shelved just jet. I haven't been doing much photography lately so I dusted off the old FZ50 and went to one of my favorite local places to brush up a bit. The first 4 are FZ50 and the next post below will be TZ1. Yes. TZ1. I have always liked using it with a Raynox 250 and it still works.

A color burst of Autumn tones at the heart of a sun flower.

I wish I had my Raynox for this next one, but the macro mode on the FZ50 did just fine as this guy let me really really close.

Well hello there Doc!!!! It's so nice to "see" you and your photos. :) You have been missed. I'm glad you dusted off your cameras and gave them a work out. You got some great results. My favorite is the first shot of the heart of the sunflower. Amazing detail in that shot and I love those autumnal colors. :) I also really like the backside of the sunflower. The bug shots are well done and totally gave me the creeps (LOL).
Welcome back! :)

Slouch brutalizing us with those ole Battle-Axes... ;)

Does this mean you've abandoned the LX3? Or ya just wanted to reminisce with a couple ole friends on the day?

I probably should remember but don't since it's been a while but do you do the whole RAW thing? I'm thinkin' not although you haven't the choice with the TZ.... Hmm! So maybe ya go both ways, eh?

Nic e shots ,Doc !
Nice to see your still around :)

I liked most of them....good detail,exposure,composition...

i was just going thru some of my bee on flower shots, taken earlier today..but after seeing yours....who cares ,lol

I bought a TZ1 (like new condition) on Ebay,for $56, over a year ago.

Use it mainly for video.

Absolutely stupendous Dave! It just brings home the fact that if we didn't know which camera took them, we wouldn't be aware if it was the latest and greatest technology, or an "antique". They are all brilliant photos.

Simply some of the best shots I have ever seen! I can’t believe how sharp those FZ50 shots are!

Here is to hoping for a new FZ60 tomorrow that has the same lens, sensor, and zoom of the FZ50 but all of the latest features and video. I know it is just a dream but what a beautiful one it would be in the hands of a talented photographer like yourself.

Makes me want to drag out the 'ol TZ-1 - still my favorite camera "body" of all time: I often wish the subsequent TZ's still looked like it.

It just has the "Leica" feel.

And it sure is good to see you back, your photos & your D.I.Y. things such as your adaptation of the Raynox have been missed!

Great shots, Dave! The TZ1 is a remarkable piece of equipment: the best P&S ever made by Panasonic. Mine is still going strong and I take it everywhere I go. With my RDS it is great for BIFs. And my FZ28 is a good companion for it. Although I sometimes read all the postings for the G1, for now I do not need a change. When the micro 4/3 picture expands I may evaluate a change, but for now, Long Live My TZ1 !

Not as good as I once was, but as good once as I ever was.

Welcome Back, Kotter. Oops! I meant Dave. Talk about coming back with a bang. For a guy who hasn't been doing much photography lately, you sure know how to make someone feel like a slouch. What a great range of shots. I love the sunflowers, and all the creepy crawlers are wonderful too. I also like the second heron shot.
I hope all is well with you otherwise.
Take care,
Daniel

You guys really missed me? I feel loved and appreciated and part of a family. But I always knew I was family. Now I see part of the family has been ripped away but to a a neighboring land (Micronesia) so it's an easy visit. Hey John old friend over there. I will visit you from time to time.

Rossusiers , I still love and have my LX3 I was just suffering some nostalgia. I feel a certain attachment to my TZ1. It was my first panny, like my first girlfriend in Pannyland.

Rafael I feel bad about not contributing to the pannychallenge of late. I have had a dry spell but still have a burden for it and wish that some more of the great talent in this forum would give it a try.

Daniel you caring soul, I am fine. I think I had had the equivalent of writer's block but I will get out of it. I think I need a new camera to lift my spirits. (Just kidding)

Harveydad I know how you love the TZ1. I agree with you it's a fine camera and I consider it a classic. I used it with the Raynox for these pics because it has great magnification at 10x and focuses pretty fast with it.
I love really do love all of you.
