Can you recommend a hand strap for my new e-620? I don't like using a neck strap very much. I did a search and found a few references but nothing specifically for the e-620. Thanks for your help!

Here is one of my first attempts, last night's dinner (before cooking of course). I am impressed with the dynamic range. My compact would have blown the fish' belly for sure.

kit lens, iso 400

to the fish, blown open by a P&S vs. sliced open by a dslr = same result

I hate being dinner...

nice shot

I just bought a Prostrap online and am very happy with it. They will have fittings to suit.

Hello, I do not have a 620 yet but I am tring to save up for one. I am not sure if this would work for you but I am going to try it when I get the camera. It is a harness for using with binoculers. I have one on mine and I really do like it. It does not pull on my neck. I wears like suspenders. I got mine from Cabelas sporting good. Any way I thought I would let you know. :)

The first thing I did was replace the neck strap with a Roots brand padded neck strap; unfortunately these are probably only available in Canada, eh:

The following are grip straps that attach to the right strap point, and the other half attaches to the tripod mount.

Personally I use the following strap with my E-300:

There are different straps from brands such as Sunpak and Hakuba...I have this one for my E-330 that goes to the wrist that makes the camera part of your hand:

I don't know if the E-620 has enough space, but I was able to slip both the grip strap and the neck strap through the right strap point (with some patience), and for times that I'm mostly going to use the grip strap I simply unsnap the neck strap.

Nice shot ! I have a Gordy's Strap that I've used for my Leica LTM. The one I have is a short one for cameras with a tripod mount on the right side, but there's a longer one for regular cameras too.

It's some of the best leatherwork that I've ever seen, despite that it's so small. Might not be enough if you want to carry large lenses, though.

EDIT: with the last bit, I don't mean to say the Gordy's strap won't carry large weights. They do: Gordy proves it on his site, too. But the version I have (loop around the wrist, screws into the tripod mount) may not be comfortable with longer lenses. There are several other varieties on his site, so check it out.

I ordered several LX2 hand straps from panasonic - they only cost $2.72 each!

I use one on my E410, one on my LX3 (it came with neck strap only) and I have a couple more saved for future cameras.

Can't beat the price, and I actually like the straps a lot.

There are some straps that look like the Sunpak for less than $10 shipped available from Ebay listings. I have bought several and they work and look exactly like the Sunpak grip. Probably came from the same factory in China.

As long as the strap can handle the wight, especially with the longer lens, and very especially if this strap has a quick release that's designed for a lighter camera.

I bought a Canon WS20 (camcorder wrist strap) for my e520 and love it. It is secure and can hold the weight of the body + HG lens just fine. Wider and stronger than most wrist straps and not big/bulky like a hand strap that uses the tripod mount also.

If you can't stand the "Canon" lettering, just black it out with a marker.

Some info on it:

The hand strap is a little hokey looking I guess. Its different though, when you hold the camera the weight is spread across the back of the wrist while shooting. Takes all the stress off of the fingers for a soft touch on the shutter.

When not shooting the camera isnt dangling off the shoulder, neck or wrist but secure in the hand while needing no real effort to hold it. If that makes since. I used a hand strap on an old minolta and Ive been hooked ever since.
