Found a cheap close up lens that I bought a year and half ago and never got around to use it. Tried it out on the L10 kit lens today and I am surprised at the result.
Thank you for viewing and appreciate your C&C.

cheers and have a nice weekend.

That looks nice Ric. The wing is fantastic.

If you have Photoshop may I suggest a quick technique that will make the tail look nicer. Take a blur brush of about 20%-25% opacity and just run it over those bright spots and around the forceps and you will see a nice improvement. The blur brush can have the effect of toning down harsh highlights, I use the trick all the time. For example if your subject has a shiny nose as does my wife in the sun, a quick blur brush works wonders.

thanks for the feedback and pity i do not have PS. I am using Silkypix. I will use iPhoto to tweak down the highlights but it applies it across the board and see how that looks.

Appreciate your kind assistance.

Tried tweaking down the highlights with iPhoto and does not work.

Hi Jim, I have a friend who has PS and will seek his assistance to touch up the bright spots and the background will look much cleaner and less distracting.

I believe he's talking about the voerexposed spots on the dragonfly; especially the ones on the eyes. I like the blurred spots on the background as it adds a nice unfocused contrast to a very sharp subject. The wings are indeed mesmerizing.

thanks and I must try using PS becos if it can clean up the eyes that will be great becos i take lots of pics of the dragonfly.
Thanks for viewing and you feedback.

thank you for your feedback. I think my is a Hoya close -up +4. Seems to work very well with the kit lens. I am going to get an adapetr ring to try using it with 14-150mm. If it is equally good then I do not need to carry the lit lens with me.

I've tried a few with the Canon close up lenses and it's pretty tricky. You did very well.

thank you for your confirmation that it is getting better with time. This hobby is like playing golf and you keep competition against yourself to do better. Someday it is a wash out and I need to learn to live with that. Overall I am happy with the little progress that I am making and the learning behind each of this improvement.

cheers and have a happy weekend.

I think they are too blown to rescue without looking odd.
