Hoverfly macros - only if you like detail!

So far as I know Marc, they are wild. Photo was taken in a NWR near my home.

fantastic shots ... what did you use, an FA*200 macro or something?

Indeed it is Shane - you are correct that it's the FA* 200/4 macro. It's an amazing lens, no question!

The formatting is not right in my profile. I wish I could update it, but it's always the same "an error" has occurred"... when I click on "save"... :(

Of course, no one ever responds to any e-mails sent to the webmaster/admin... :|

Really amazing what you keep doing with this lens !
Wonderfull as usual
These pictures are spot on, and the light fits perfectly with the subject.
Thank you for the comments!
May I ask how long you tried and perfected the composition of the pictures ?
Did you had the final image in mind when you shoot ?
I did have the final image in mind when I shot - I usually visualize everything in advance, regardless of timing or subject. I spent perhaps 10-15 minutes shooting the subject.
Amazing coordination anyway to keep such an incredible sharpness with this small hoverfly...

Thank you - it's easier when they are drunk on nectar.... 8-) I shall try to get some in flight shots some day!

Hopefully you'll enjoy the details even more in this image!
Yes I do. Man, that FA*200/4 Macro is a wonderful lens. Sure wish I had one.

Thanks for showing Marc.

Cheers.

WOW!!! This crop is unbelievable!

Incredible how you managed to keep the head and important parts of the flower so sharp !
Definitely you shoot like you breathe... It "seems" so easy ;)
Very well done: I can't find my words!

Indeed you made the best with the flash and the tripod, and a great preparation.
Another impressive lesson for an amateur like me!

I especially like how the head pops out of the background but with your "natural" style, and how you place it in perspective...
