*** CSLR Challenge 149-- BUY AND SELL ***

Thanks for the encouragement and for calling me 'creative', alexeig!

I struggled with the whole public indoors shooting thing last time, so I doubt I'll be doing that, although I did enjoy the stretch outside my comfort zone... I'll need to recover first. grin

As for Buy/Sell... I'll think of something, I'm sure. :)

...he laughed and smiled and went ah shucks....but wouldn't let me shoot him either.

ESPECIALLY because I was going to post it on the internet.

This is my second refusal for Buy and Sell portraiture.

Hummmmm

I'm working on it.

Well, at least your plumber showed up, Trav... we've been waiting on a new water heater for over two weeks now. The old one was completely dead.

Was there a plumber's crack or something he was afraid of?? :D

Perhaps you could just shoot him from the front. ;)

:)

...I am looking to do something outrageous but still very formal portraiture.

Damn.

I'm trying.

BTW, you don't need no plumber to install a hot water heater...heck, I do that.

(But I charge a lot....lol).

Send me a ticket, I'll be there plumbing tools in hand.

Best Wishes, Traveller

I've ALWAYS liked smilies. :D

It's a gas WH...I won't touch it. If it were electric, I'd already have done it myself. sigh

I'm going to an Atlanta Braves baseball game tomorrow night (Father's day tickets compliment of my son). There will be fireworks after the game. That's the primary reason I'm taking a camera.

Hopefully I'll be able to catch some "Buy/Sell" shots too.

BTW, I HATE the emoticon graphics DPReview is now embedding in posts. They've been overdone by almost everybody. Notice there isn't one in this post.

Back to the top of the heap.

What? :(

You don't like the emoticon? :(

How can you not? I've always used them... they just showed up as : ( instead of :(

But, mostly.... ;) ... I use :) or :D

Always have. Always will... whether the cute face shows up or not. ;)

:D

When I last needed to put in a new water heater, I decided that it wouldn't cost that much more to have it installed by the "pros", so I just paid the extra.

For one thing, part of the deal was that they'd haul the old one up out of my basement and dispose of it for me. That saves me a trip to the dump and the hassle of dragging that beast up the stairs, too. So I went for the package deal from, I believe, Sears.

Well, to make a long story short, I ended up removing it after they got done and then reinstalling it so that the job met my specifications (which include it being installed up to local code, for one thing).

Never again!

It's a gas water heater. And they're easy to install, actually. The "pros", in this case, didn't get the unit level, didn't put a water-leak-tray under it, and didn't install any "junk trap" in the gas line feeding it (that's required by code here now).

Further, they didn't put in anything to hold the unit it place in case of earthquake and they didn't put in any kind of backflow preventers which can save a bit of energy.

They also couldn't figure out how to drain the old water heater, so they didn't dispose of it either. I ended up doing all of that and redoing all of their work which made it much more of a chore than if I'd have just bought the unit and installed it myself to begin with.

I won't make that mistake again :)

I, too have been having a bit of a problem shooting any transactions. I've chickened out on one that should be good, but maybe before this weekend I'll get up the guts to try shooting it.

It'll require some cooperation from the vendor and some willing customers if it's going to be posted on the internet. We'll see how people feel about the whole concept. People are kind of suspicious about this kind of thing, especially when it comes to having their likeness posted on the 'net. But you never know. The right people might absolutely love the idea.

I should go with my wife, son, and daughter in law. Having a group of people might make it seem a bit less "creepy". It's too bad that people have gotten so paranoid about all of this.

It's best if the new CGC doesn't follow the same formula as the CTF & hopefully it will develop it's own character. I will be refraining from my usual antics at the CGC as the CTF covers that for me.

So if anyone doesn't want to post at the new challenge because of the way I carry on then be assured that won't be happening. We intermingle with the Sony group in the Exhibition challenges of both & if other brand challenges start up it might be quite a good place for some variety of thoughts.

The last speed challenge showed that we can intermingle but the CTF forum is another matter a:-)

Anyhow the CGC is neutral ground & is situated in a much better neighbourhood than the CTF so please feel free to join in.

My name is all over the place in the current challenge as I had to co host it as Franky from the Sony forum is busy so don't let that turn you off.
Hope to see some of you over there.

Regards Rod

Could I have this signed in blood please, Rod?

I know you put it in writing, but...

Could I have this signed in blood please, Rod?

I know you put it in writing, but...
I normally keep my promises, that's why I haven't posted picys here at the CSLR. There's really no need to carry all the silliness I indulge in over to the CGC so I won't be as blunt or outspoken there as I am in the CTF.

So I think it will be quite safe for you & any others to post as you please without the fear of my silly comments driving you nuts under your picys.

So I promise to keep my comments under your picys nice & polite & also I will try not to be confrontational in the forum thread, in fact I promise not to be confrontational in the forum thread. (gawd that was a hard promise):-)

Honestly the CGC has nothing to do with the CTF as moving there from PBase was rejected by the others so it's a picy forum that has to stand on it's own. I've been posting to the Sony Exhibition challenges & have been practising my manners for when you all start to post.

So if you feel like it give it a go as I think the interaction between all the other brand camera challenges when they get going could be quite a good thing.
Regards Rod
