Epson 820/Canon S820?????

I'm just a beginner when it comes to photo printing, but here is my view. I had a Canon S800 and used it for a year with no problems. However, Canon, just like Epson has a color shift / fade problem when printing on the Canon high quality glossy paper. When Espon introduced the Colorlife paper, I was very excited that the color shift / fade problem was solved. Sadly, I was never able to get a decent print on Colorlife paper (or Ilford's very nice equivalent papers) with the Canon printer. Colors were never right and there was lots of visible image noise and dots.

I finally gave up and got an Epson 785. The Epson prints wonderfully on Colorlife and the Ilford papers, so I am much happier now.

I have had one incident of clogged nozzles, but running the cleaning routine fixed it and it has not recurred in 2 months.

The only things I miss about the Canon are (1) it is much faster and (2) it has separate ink tanks. One possibility to answer both of these issues is the new Epson 960, but that costs $350 and won't be available for several weeks at least.

Good luck
$99 vs $249ish -- Hmmmm?

Differences in print quality [for the money]?

Borderless ability for 81/2 x 11 [letter size]?

Any other thoughts ? -- have read threads on clogging, etc

All help appreciated

--John,

I have had great success with the 785EPX also. Dell has them for $149.00 with free shipping until Monday 19th. They also have good prices on ink (I just ordered a bunch, with free shipping). They don't have the better Epson papers, though. Epson Colorlife and Heavyweight Matte work very well with this printer. Good luck....
