What lens and what size extension tube did you use?
Oops. Should have mentioned that in the first post.
Pentax SMC-F 100mm f/2.8 with a Pentax 25mm extension tube.
Could you still select your apature?
I could select the aperture because this lens is old enough to actually have an aperture ring :)

BTW: My Pentax extension tubes are old K-era tubes without a coupling even for the diaphragm stop-down lever, so it's strictly stop-down metering.
