When will Nikon, Canon, Oly, Pan, Pentax, etc announce their first 3D cameras?
3D is hot, we already got 3D beamer, 3D screens, 3D movies, 3D gaming.

Best regards, Herman

It's a pretty niche market, I doubt they'll be interested. We don't have 3D TV, 3D prints or 3D books. Practically nobody has 3D viewing hardware on their desktops for comfortable 3D viewing on-screen yet.

In the meantime, just get two cameras and stick them next to each other on a rail. Fire them together by making your own remote.

I agree. i have played with 3D over the years and love the concept. You can do it yourself very easily with static images by shooting two shots eye distance apart. Print the left one abour 3x2" and the right one about 1/2" space to the right but print it mirrored L-R. Place a vanity mirror vertically in between mirrored side facing right and bring your face to the pictures so that the mirror is just beneath your nose. look left so the left eye sees the left image and the right eye sees the inverted image on the right. You will see your 3D picture.

Fuji has announced a 3d camera. I have not seen it on the market yet.

I have two Canon G7's synced with CHDK and SDM firmware. I can trigger them within 1/10,000 sec so I can shoot fast moving subjects in 3d.

Actually, Samsung's DLP rear projection TVs are 3D capable.
3D prints
I print lenticular images, as well as stereo cards in formats for both an old Holms (3x7) and newer Lorio Maxi (4x6) formats, and even anaglyphs.

That leaves the little issues of synchronizing focus, zoom, and exposure settings ;)

Or get a couple of Canon cameras, because the CHDK hackers have a 3D sync capability that lets you connect two cameras through their USB ports,

My wife just bought a "3D Camera" app from the iPhone App Store and is having quite a bit of fun with it. It doesn't use the traditional "two cameras on a rail," but instead requires you to take to side-by-side photos. The app uses a transparent version of the first photo to make it easier to align the second. The results are actually pretty good, especially considering the iPhone camera.

There are several TV's that are 3D capable. I make 3D anaglyph prints. There are also some great 3D books. Here's one on the best:

There are video cards that can process 3D stereoscopic images. Sharp made a 3D notebook computer.

Well, there are 3D attachments for full frame and APS cameras:

Unfortunately they don't have one for FourThirds (yet).

Here's some 3D digital cameras:

I've done some 3D myself with two JamCams attached to a metal bracket, and used Z-Anaglyph to process the images:

We don't
have 3D TV
Not sure which sets display it properly, but we have daily 3D HD broadcasts (they split the screen in two - side by side - for non-compliant sets) on one of the free-to-view satellite channels here in Japan. Tried crossing my eyes, and it kinda works... but no de-anamorphic help there!

Yes but they are not popular at all. The market for 3D photos must be much smaller than 1% of the market for regular ones.

Yes, of course. I have used one - all the consumer NVidia cards are capable. Doesn't change the fact that practically nobody has them. The lenticular notebook displays are cruddy. And nobody wants to wear ridiculous glasses to view page-flipping stereo on their display, and last time I looked it was only compatible with CRTs (which could refresh much faster).

Hi everyone, thanks for your input on this item.
According to me 3D is hot.
By now, Fuji will release their first 3D camera (W1) in september.

I do look forward taking the W1 in my hand and watching the 3D images on it's screen. How will 3D feel and look in real life on such screen?
Best regards, Herman

I thought they made double cylindrical prism lens glasses to compensate for that. Positive prism closer to the screen, negative one closer to the eyes.
