Has anyone noticed how the price of the SD880 has skyrocketed lately. Amazon has it for between $439-479 and it seems to be going for over $400 in most places. I bought mine for $229 about six months ago. I guess it must be a highly sought after camera that's getting in short supply. I find mine to produce excellent images.

B&H has gold ones for $259.95 with free shipping. I had noticed the rising prices, so I jumped on this deal.

You can get the refurbished in Gold for $199.99 w/free shipping. I think the reason for the higher prices is that Canon is no longer making the SD880 and is just burning off existing inventory. I could be wrong on that but the laws of supply and demand show higher prices since the markup isn't coming from Canon but the resellers. Also, the SD880 isn't available from major resellers.

I would avoid buying the SD880 new at this point. There should be newer cameras coming out in the fall by Canon. Not to mention, the life of these camera models seems to be 1 year before it's replaced or outdated. I think $200 and below is the most one should spend on a point and shoot camera. Anything more and you're better off looking at a digital SLR camera. Sure it's not portable but it should have a longer life and will give you better photos. Much better then upgrading to a new point and shoot every year. Better to upgrade every 3-4 years for a point and shoot and with the money saved buy a digital SLR with a lens or two.
