hi All

sorry for the of topic q,,, but i need to record say 15 seconds of music from a cd to my hd, to use in ms powerpoint, can anyone recomend a recording program

Try Audio Cleaning Lab from http://www.magix.com Its primarily designed to record from vinyl and then clean up the recording before recording to CD, but you should also be able to record from CD. The software is inexpensive - about 15 UK pounds but you can download a trial copy - may be this will do the job !

It's a nice free utility. Search it with Google. No adware or spyware detected with it.

EAC (Exact Audio Copy) will do the trick. It's free. Lots of other CD ripping software out there too. Try grabbing a trial copy of CoolEdit, then you can rip and manipulate. Or get cdparanoia.

A quick google on cd ripping should provide hours of entertainment and maybe even quickly give you a decent way to do it.
