Does anybody have any suggestions for image stitching software for Macs (free or reasonable priced)? There was a mention of PhotoVista in the Challenge thread, but no link given. I've reached a dead end searching on PanoGuide (which mentions PhotoVista 1.01 as still being available for Macs on mgisoft.com, but that has been taken over by Roxio and I can't find the software there).

I've tried Photomerge on PSE 2, but am not entirely happy with the results (some weird diagonal stitching sometimes appears), although in the end maybe that will have to do.

i downloaded Panotools quite a while ago which includes PTStitcher from the link below but have yet to get it to work.

scroll down to the Download and Read about Panorama Tools and PTStitcher area and then a little further down is Macintosh Version 2.2 .
it's free. i just haven't had the time or the initiative to figure it out.

Thanks, cUrVe, I'll take a look. But if you have yet to get it to work, I can only imagine the trouble I'll have, given my lack of skill in these kinds of things! :-)))

Canon's Photostitch program works like a champ... really good. it's not sold separately, so getting it can be tricky.

Please give my PTMac shareware ($49.95) a try. Basically PTMac is a front end for the powerfull Panotools so it gives you the most accurate stitch available. Here is the link:

http://www.kekus.com/ptmac/

PTMac is available for classic Mac and Mac OS X. I also re-created the Panotools plug-ins for Photoshop on OS X.

The big advantage with doing panoramas with PTMac is that you can save the panorama as a multi-layer masked Photoshop file so you can blend the images the way you want to get rid of half people, etc.
