EP-1 or DP1...who"s going to trade?

From the picture ive seen so far they look okay, seem to handle reds
alot better than my DP1.
FWIW, I've seen some really nice reds on the DP2 photo pools at flickr... seems the DP2 handles reds easier than the DP1..

Find the umbrella photo by IKDRYM or his red poppies photos... (I don't like to link to someone's sets when I don't know the person... easy enough to find though, search his user name on http://www.flickr.com )

Bill Morgan too had some nice comparisons of DP1 vs DP2 reds (DP2's were 'better')

Best regards, Sandy

Interesting, but I still need a flash for casual shots (and I'm not carrying around a add-on).

Interesting, but still apples and oranges from the DP series.

Well, there is ISO up to 6400 or so, so presumably you can do available light. Keep in mind also that m43 is a system camera, like a Leica, so an add-on flash is a reasonable solution. The only time when an on-board flash is useful is for fill-in, that will be missed.

...... Well, I certainly did"nt expect such a good turn out !

As someone who has been deliberating for over a year now on wether to let my quirky but much admired L1 go (its been on ebay twice and twice removed B4 bidding end) I will allmost certainly keep the LX3 and DP1 although I use a E3 practicaly all the time, all turn out a cracking shot...... its just the seduction of the EP-1.. looks like camera "love" dosn"t it........ the most anoying thing is though, I can"t sodding well afford it....

Yep, that's about it. I still use my DP1 for a lot of casual family shots, not necessarily ones I want at high ISO. I do applaud Oly for creating this camera; it just won't work for me personally.

Looking to replace my current P&S. And my DP1 is still a bit too bulky (although still my favorite). How's the "pocketability" of the LX3?

Olympus will sell at ton of the EP1's, it will be a while before the waiting lists clear out. So hang on to your DP1/DP2 it will be a while before you get your hands on one.

I'm a simple nikon d50 user, but I'm looking for a small portble walk around camera. The new EP-1 is nice, I feel it is the one I'm waiting for. BUT I'm very impressed with DP1 IQ, it is unbeatable. It isn't low light camera, but up to iso400, mainly in bright sun the results are unbelievable. I think DP1 is simply the best travell camera, so I want to go for one.

..... I don"t think you are making a bad move, the DP1 is a strange beast......

I have the LX3 as well and allthough it is a very well spec camera, and feels a million dollars , especialy with its tailor made leather case, the DP1 always turns in a fine shot, must be RAW though....... theres so much to complain about the functionality of the DP1 but if its pure image quality your after its still the "tool" to have.......... it literaly "makes" you think about what you are doing, its allmost like it was designed specificaly designed to "make" you think, just like when you had 36 pictures on your spool so you had to be carefull..... good choice,go for it

I really like the form factor, but was not impressed with the daylight pictures. Maybe this will improve with the final firmware. At night I need a flash and that may be a deal breaker for me. Given these two things, I will wait, for now. If I did not have the DP1, then things would be different
