But looks like this is the trend for most forums. The Fuji NON dslr
forum was one of the niciest forums on dpreview by far 4-6 years ago.
You even had people posting from other cameras like DSLR's showing
other stuff you can do, their work and everyone even got along,
sometimes even asking a few questions about the other system. That
can't be done now.
Sounds like there was a great spirit there.

When I researched for a FF-camera five years ago I really tried to like the Kodak DSLRs but never did.

I DID like the Kodak forum though. Very open minded ppl about the limitations of their cameras and comparing to the Fuji and Nikon and Canons all the time, accepting the benefits of the different cameras. But in the end it got little sad there ...

There are a lot of friendly and passionate Oly users there who will
be glad to discuss m4/3rds and help where they can... and with so
much traffic, you're likely to come across some odd characters too -
you get what you give mostly so I find it a very respectful and
friendly place.
Sounds nice, now I just hope they release many kinds of new developed lenses for these cameras :-) ... with affordable price tag.

You are taking things out of context and trying to put a bad rep of
me for someone who doesn't know any of us. So much for your integrity.
I didn't get anything of what he was talking about so I didn't respond to it.

nothing but a matter of seeing, and thinking, and interest. That’s what
makes a good photograph.'
I know I fall into that trap some times ... hopefully Andreas Feininger was excited some times about some new gear too ;-)

I'd imagine he was excited when he first started using a long telephoto lens on his large format camera to photograph urban scenes in Stockholm, after all this became pretty much his hallmark style (his telephoto shots of New York are iconic).

I noticed you used that on Bill, too. Do you subscribe to some word of the day thingy?

I think you need to go out and mingle with actual human beings, Ricardo. You've replaced that simple human interaction with Dpreview. You live here 24 hours a day.

For that matter, so does Brian. I think you both suffer from OCD.

But you can't get a 35mmFF-system as small as the mFT today and that
mFT system will have worse image quality, definitely in low light.
Surprise. It should be pretty obvious since the aperture diameter IS
smaller at the same angle of view, with the current lens line-ups.
Facts are, that if you don't like/want the ultra shallow DoF that FF can give you, then a 2x crop mFT camera will give you just as good IQ in low light at iso400, f/2,8 as FF at iso1600, f/5,6. That's what 'equivalence' tells us!

Yeah, there's no point in paying for an option to sacrifice DoF for IQ if you don't want to use it. But it never hurts to be aware of how different formats and lenses in those formats relate to each other, and I think there are still quite a few photographers out there who aren't.

Thanks for the feedback. But no, you aren't on ignore yet. I think I even replied to you before! But if you want so, that's cool.

Am I overlooking something? Could be hard to implement in the current
system I guess. I think it's something worth considering by dpreview
,but again, maybe I am overlooking a big "obvious" con.
I think the Active Members List at the beginning of each forum is
great. It says alot about certain members and helps moderate. More

It's amazing what a person can do :

  • when you are able to zap instantly between subjects (work/play)
  • when you are very fast at writing/typing

Ahh, I have to look that up.

I'm also looking for tele lenses for bigger formats.

Yes, I think that's the most well-balanced point of view to take on that issue. Not just telling people that the bigger sensor is always superior. That's not the whole story. It depends very much on peoples shooting style and DoF preferences, whether they'll be able to take advantage of the bigger sensors potential for better IQ.
