5DII hot pixel

I got a stubborn hot pixel in my 5D2.Regular dust delete system doesn't help it.Anyone knows how to get rid of it in one click (just like "apply dust delete data" in DPP) ?It's so boring cloning it out of every picture!

hot pixel or dust speck?! there are two different things

to be honest the hot pixels are not worth bothering as the ACR or LR will just take them out automatically (i have one, and i will take care i send the camera in service before the warranty expires to map it out)

If it is a hot pixel then try a manual sensor clean. Don't open the camera for cleaning, just select "Clean Manually" as per page 151 on the manual. After a couple of seconds, switch the camera off.

It may help to shoot a couple of shots at 1sec or so with 1600 ISO or higher before going through this process. I have never noticed it make any difference although others say it has.

After the manual clean cycle, most serious hot pixels are cleared. Its an undocumented feature on both 5DMk1 and MkII.

You haven't said if it is at all ISO or just High ISO?

There is the 'magic' hot pixel fix though:- put the body cap on,switch the camera into manual cleaning mode and leave for a couple of minutes to ten minutes. It somehow 'magically' maps out hot pixels. You may have to do it a couple of times but in my experience with the 5d2 it works well on still pics .

However, if you have the hot pixel in videos there is nothing you can do and you have to send the camera to Canon/repair centre.

Hey, I really owe this thread and the information within a great deal. It's maybe saved me a lot of hassle. So thanks!

Having just gotten a brand spanking new 5DII I was gutted to see a cluster (2 or more) of side by side hot pixels in the centre of the frame when reviewing pics back on the camera when magnified. This appeared on all 40 or so shots taken and so I went on to test at different ISOs, exposure timings etc. It persisted so was not the product of high ISO.

Decided it had to go back and was literally held in the queue waiting for a technical support person to come on the line when I searched DPR for hot pixels. Glad there were 7 people ahead of me in that queue now...

So, these dead (stuck) pixels are either remapped or unstuck during the manual clean mirror-up whatever's going on cycle? It's not a good indication either way when you buy a brand new camera and have this to contend with right in the centre of the frame. Glad it's sorted though. Now for the real testing... ;>
