This is not what it appears to be. The animals are stuffed and are in a glass display case. The fox is blurred by depth of field, but the background in the original photo showed other displays so I used a gaussian blur in PhotoShop to make it look real.

It looks great, even if its not real. What is the bird? A grouse?

In my pic, I guess I was the one in the glass case. You can see some of the glare from the window by the squirrel. The eagle came by for 15 minutes every day for a week. The squirrel was eating at the feeder when the eagle came, and froze to the rail. You could almost hear him thinking 'be the pole, be the pole.' The squirrel didn't move for 15 minutes until the eagle left.

Thank you Staci. I guess that squirrel was able to blend in as it survived. Nice capture and great comparison.

Hi Morris,

This is great, like it very much, also the blurred fox and i like very much the color relations between these two animals. How did you manage to take this shot ? Was the bird flying away on time ? Was this taken in a Zoo or in the wild ? Sorry for all these questions Morris but I'm so intrigued by this shot, really well done;

With very kind regards,

Dirk

Thank you Dirk. The animals are dead and stuffed and placed on display in this position. They are in a glass display case, which made the photo a challenge. You could see through the display case and behind it you could see people viewing other exhibits. I experimented with both creatures sharp, the bird sharp and the fox sharp. This one looked the best to me so I used it even though it had a very distracting background. I selected the background in PhotoShop and blurred it to make it look like a continuation to the lack of depth of field. The result looked very natural to me and I’m glad to see that others feel the same way.

This was a fun project. Most of my work is of real subjects and it was fun to create a life like seen.

Hi Morris,

Thanks a lot for the information, you did a great job and I must say that I couldn't see it, the only thing I was wondered about was how you could get that close to a fox. Fantastic Morris, glad that I could see it and read about it.

Thanks a lot,

Dirk
