As requested, from Richard Pavek, here is how I carry and handle My camera.

Material needed: male and female buckle, synthetic rope (strong) and spherical anchors (is that right words?)

Female buckle on the grip. I use this hand strap only with grip for now.

On top of the camera a male buckle

Strap can be used too but I use a synthetic rope because it is easy to remove if needed. To made this rope you have to put on fire both ends of the rope and welding it to each other. Not easy at first.

This buckle is not safe enough, so I added a piece of rubber (cork like) and glued it with moment glue (Loctite super attack)(red marked)

hand strap on the camera with grip

original Oly neck strap with male buckle on

on the camera

easy to remove because when working on tripod in portrait format strap often slips over the viewfinder, much better for carrying the camera on the shoulder. It slide less.

Sorry for big pictures. They are easier to view and understand.

Have fun

Sorry, explanation is requested by Simon Cowell, not Richard Pavek and as usual EDIT button is gone.

That explains it.

Ingenious idea again. I really like this kind of little tricks which don't cost very little or nothing at all.

One question: how comfortable is it on the hand? It looks like a quite tight grip.

It is all about how do you carry your camera. I mostly carry and hold it in the way my fingers are the hook around grip and hand strap is only the insurance. This way it is OK. If I walk a lot, to rest the right side hand, I simply plug in the neck strap, because it is always there and let the camera hang for a while and I can use it from that position too. This is the reason for this kind of buckles were chosen. Easy to operate and you have more options to operate the camera. I always try to resolve things on some practice way.
If you have any questions, shoot :-))

but I missed it when it went through the first page 2 days ago.

Quite simple and, for that, all the more ingenious. The nice thing is that it not only offers the adaptability you noted in your discussion with Simon, but one can adapt it to one's own hand size and style simply by adjusting the lengths of the material used. I really appreciate this because I always have trouble finding things that will even fit my hands in the normal retail avenues.

Thank you much -- Simon for asking, and Miro for following up.

...Thanks, I'm glad it will be a help. You nicely put together, briefly, what I was thinking of.

The whole system is clever, but I especially like the use of the small cable ties to attach the buckle to the camera, a nice simple solution I had never thought of. As someone who prefers a hand strap most of the time I'll be working up something similar in the near future.

This is a first solution. Improvements are always possible.

trust those black cable ties. They are made to hold wires in place, They wear out quickly when exposed to movement and sun.

Shoulder strap is main weight carrier. Cable ties are there as a backup just in case.
