***New Mini Challenge 153 Motion is up***

Hi JP

I was at the natural History Museum a couple of months ago and the winning entries were being exhibited.

This pic of your is just the kind of thing they were going for ... techique, artistry and a unique moment which adds to out knowledgebase of the animal .... I've seen pheasants doing just that.

All the best

Hi Jolene

I don't mean from some other places ... but I was looking through the entries a few days ago and those stuck fast in my mind ... those pidgeons especially. In england, they are not given much respect ... even called flying rats. I have always been very accepting of them and it was great to see the dignity andbeauty you gave them.

I hope you are doing ok

All the best

Hi Danielle

Lol .. that was Soooo 'catyawn' caught at the peak ...

I have noticed two cat yawns ... one seems to have nostalgia for days of unrestrained predation, but the other .. this one that you did ... I see as sheer 'cat on day off' .. shortly before or after lying down.

All the best

Hi Marti ..

now if I'm correct .. that is a bird in that mysterious hover where it can be six feet away from you and eight feet above .. yet .... is just 'there' motionless.

I saw a few of those in Plymouth .. english town by the sea side.

Best wishes

Hi Technophile

I can feel the motion in that horse .... vey interesting horse .. not the 'racehorse'standard streamline look. I wonder what kind of horse that is.

All the best

Hi Sallyst

Pleased to meet yo.

I like the way your time exposure of the water was not done at the expense of the land ....

I think it would ahve still been a great picture wthout the water .. so that water is the icing on the cake ... a good cake.

Best wishes

Hi Tom

I think number one was magic!

When and how much to sharpen is, IMO, always a balancing act. I like the way you got it ... I can touch everything, but don't get cut on any of it. Lovely.

Best wishes

Hi Jerry

Wow ....

Me .. I live in England ... right next to the River Thames .... a sedate peice of water with a few locks and dams.

I see a body of water fall Six Entire Feet, and I am awestruck as I eat my sandwiches.

This Niagra Falls ... is, er , a different beast altogether, and that boat .. i can see it as big ... here, they call them 'pleasure boats' ... they are made for catering to organised groups of tourists.

Sooooooo ..... I see it dwarfed by that water and I .... er ... well .... am significanl MORE awestruck. My jaw would be dropped and my sandwich would not get touched.

Take care

Glad you liked the shot. The horse is my youngest, coming up on his third birthday. He is an American Paint Horse. If interested, you can read about the breed at http://www.apha.com/breed/index.html . No glamour shot here, just a naturally dirty young horse, having fun at home. He is a rambunctious little fellow, but loves life to the fullest.

Hi Justin

Now THAT's something I have always wanted to do. Closest I ever got was Wind Surfing in Falmouth ... a town on the Cornish coast of England. I did not exactly 'jump' the board. More like got on and fell off a lot ... whilst slowly driting out to sea and then had to be towed back by a boat.

Take care

Hi Tabrizi

If you had entered this anonymously ... I would still have had you as first in mind if someone had said 'Who do you think did this photo' ...

On the one hand ... you keep taking pics of happy people ...

On the other hand ... I reckon you make people happy.

Best wishes to you .. ahhhhhhhh ... and I hope you are over that bridge you had to cross with your new camera equipment.

:)

Those are Eurasian Ringneck doves--same family as pigeons but smaller. I think they are quite beautiful and was lucky enough to capture this image and save it from the badly backlit discards. I think it shows so much grace in birds that are often thought of as pests.

I am okay. I haven't been as active on any of the forums as before. I've been quite busy lately with the garden and visiting out of town for a while. Also have been cleaning up my computer and adding another hard drive to hold these massive amounts of RAW files. Yikes!

Hope you are doing well and that your health has improved.
Regards,
Jolene

Hi Bill ...

I think getting that smile added special magic above and beyond the great moment you recorded.

All the best

Frozen bangs always amaze me. You certainly managed to halt the action getting the bang in glorious colour and the main firework just before it filled the sky, an unusual capture.

Frolicking horses, not your everyday shot. They appear to be having fun. Good shot.

Your capture of the slow movement of the sea anemone is good, such grace from the ocean.

My favourite, the sky filled with colour, the horizon filled with night lights. A wonderful capture & one to be proud of.

Regards.

Ernest.

Hi Ben

It took me a moment to work out how number three worked, then I saw ... a weight at the bottom of the flag and the top attached to his ankle ... very cool! and very impressive. I can see you were uising an eye for timing with these pics.

Best wishes
