taking sd card from R10 and putting it in CX! - no go

I took a SD card from my R10 to compare viewing screen on my CX1 and
could view the images as thumbails cut couldn't view them separately
on enlarged screen. I'm guessing , unlike other Ricoh cameras, I
would have to format the card for the new CX1 which would erase the
70 shots on the older SD card, or have I missed something?
Previously it seemed to be normal to be able swap cards around for viewing purposes, but it sounds as if CX1 has done something to make life harder.

If you now take a shot with the CX1, the camera should just create a new folder for itself and then put new images into that. There may be file number confusion at worst and CX1 may jump to one number above the R10 highest file number.

Always backup the card before doing swaps and shots with a different camera just in case.

I can't see that format is necessary unless the older Ricohs do something "illegal" in the way they format. Proper SD format programs are available online from Panasonic and others. Try cross swap to see if CX1 formatted card and shots are visible on the R10.

"Official" format program.... http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html

Anyone else with a mixture of Ricohs have CX1 viewing problems with shots from older cameras?

Regards.......... Guy

I used an old 256mb card to install the firmware upgrade. The card contained both old R4 and Panasonic photos, in separate directories, and both can even be enlarged - the R4 to 16x, but the Panasonic only to 6.7x (I think it's a 2.1mp camera).
