Hi,

Just got my new F200EXR, and I have a question about dual IS. It's called dual because it combines sensor-shift with ISO boost. But what if you don't want the ISO boost? If you set it to OFF, does that turn off the sensor-shift? The manual doesn't make this point clear.

THanks in advance for your wisdom...

The setting of course turns on/off the sensor-shifting. Of course there is no real "Dual"-IS if you lock ISO manually.

That's right, you can either set an upper limit for ISO or set a specific ISO - both will stop the camera from upping the ISO to an undesirable level but still keep the sensor's IS turned on.

Surely if that is the case then to obtain maximum stability the highest iso within the auto range will always be selected. Only a specific iso will ensure sensor gain is controlled leaving the sensor damper to do its own thing.

--Further to my previous post - maximum iso within the selected range would only be selected if sensor damping was at its full capability and movement of the sensor was still detected. The only option then left to make a stable shooting platform would be to bring the shutter speed up and THEN raise the iso to ensure correct exposure.
