Texas Bluebonnets - 50mm 1.2L

The field of Bluebonnets I shoot (situated inside the Fort Worth Nature Center) was already dying out last weekend.

I would have liked to have seen more of the dog in focus. Particulrly in the second one where you only got the nose sharp. Generaly accepted practice is to get the eyes sharp in animal shots -- not that there is anything sacred about it if that is the effect you are going for. I like the last one.

Thanks David. I do have some sharper images of the whole animal in focus (sitting, side shots and more posed), but I thought these bokeh ones were more fun to post here. in these shots I had a terrible time trying to get the dogs eyes in focus because it was very excited about having its photo taken. it was basically attacking the camera (move in, bark, move out, rinse & repeat). on top of that, the sun was terribly bright. looking at the viewfinder was useless to see what i just took. (excuse excuse excuse) ;-)

and thank you again.

First off Jose, it is always nice to get feedback from you.

Second, no real technique. was just playing around a bit. I got the 50mm a month ago, but only used it once or twice since I got it. I just bumped the ISO down to 50 and tried the A mode at a low f stop. I was actually trying to bokeh with the eye sharp (like David below was suggesting), but man... that dog is hyper.

I've been meaning to get out to 'play' more, but it just does not seem to happen.

Hope everything is going well with you. Please post more of your photos when you have free time.

:-)
Thanks for sharing.

With no intention to offend anyone I will suggest that these images have some exposure problems (some rather severely clipped highlights). In the first image the leash and expression on the dog seem to not go that well with the bluebonnet theme. The dog looks like it is really agitated. In the second image the only thing that appears to me to be in focus is the dog’s nose.

Anyway, I must be missing something here so sorry if there was some inside joke that I am not aware of.

Greg
