I have gone with two cases - a SONY package - that included a second battery - this case is big enough to carry the flash, USB cable, Power supply and cords, TV out cable and my slave flash and some acc.

The case for the camera only - I selected a LowePro Digital Camera series - I think the number is DA 40.

Is this news? I tried to find a Sony case for the 707. Jessops (UK) said the 707 specific cases had been discontinued.... There was only one left in the whole of Jessops London (20 odd stores).

Good case though. Snug fit L shaped.

I took the camera and accessories to a local camera store and spent two hours trying to determine the best fit. With all the suggestions from previous threads, it is really hard to decide without checking yourself. I also wanted a bag that had both over the shoulder and a hip belt.

The Tamrac Explorer 2 fits camera, external flash and wide angle convertor with plenty of places to fit filters, battery, and other accessories/supplies. The hip belt is good for short periods when you want both hands free but don't want to lay down the bag or having it hang over a shoulder. I also wanted the hip belt for bike excursions.

I started with a Lowepro Nova 1. With some ingenuity it carried everything, is extremely well made, and very light.

Then I got an HVL F1000, a B300, various filters, a grey card, a lens pen, and a couple of $20 ministrobes (and very effective they are, believe it or not)... and now have a Nova 3 which has quite a lot more room but isn't quite as well organized. Does the job nicely.

I have the LCS-FX (I think that is the model) leather case from Sony. It is small, fits the F707 perfectly, and looks very stylish. If you need to carry anything other than the camera, an extra battery, and 1 or 2 extra memory sticks then this case won't work for you. Also, it is a bit of a rip-off in terms of price (around $70). I love the case though since I can carry my camera anywhere without even noticing it really.

Well as mentioned before in previous threads there is no one bag that fit's all situations, I use four different bags at the moment (but I have more, LOL).

for a minimalist outing I use a tamrac digital series 5696 (digital 6), it holds the 707, f1000 flash, mini altoid tin filled with MSticks, extra battery, micro fiber cloth, and a ultrapod II clip on to the side

next is a lowpro nova one (love this bag), if I want to carry everything above and some cokin filters and a B300 teleconvertor, and tv out and usb cables, and CD with software.

the next two bags

tamrac expedition 4 backpacks, I use to carry a load all day, longer treks, only problem is you have to take the pack off to access equipment

tamrac 5606 (system6), shorter treks and allows you to work out of the bag

both of these bags hold all the previous equipment, and a mini DV TRV11 camcorder, a mindstor drive, all cables and chargers, mini dv tapes, and a tripod.

As you can see as your equipment list grows so does your collection of camera bags

I like the quality of both Tamrac and Lowe pro they are both well designed, and you can find great deals on ebay, so don't pay list price.

I have this:

It is Sony LCS-LAV-2. Very nice for $30 @ Wallmart!

I agree with the opinion that there are different cases for different situations. If I was going on vacation, I would bring a good bag that would hold lots of gear.

Most of the time, I would prefer to carry my camera protected but unobtrusively, so I was looking for a small, but sturdy bag. The problem was that they all sold for $30 plus. It seemed like the larger bags gave value for the money, but as the size gets smaller, the price hits a minimum floor price.

Then I found what would be perfect, and really cheap at this time of year. Lunch bags for school are a great value. They are insulated (which is a lot like the padding on camera bags), and the outside is rugged like a camera bag too!

But the best part is the price. They go for $6 US! Here is the one I found.

For my day to day shooting, this is perfect. It has enough room for cables and the manual. Even room for the flash (if I ever get it—but that's another story...).

heya! is that grey card waterproof? if so, where did you buy it? i
want one too!
Sorry, I can't say.

I mean, it was sooo long ago, that I don't even think they are open anymore. I can tell you that I got it at a camera shop in my home town here. I didn't cut it down, that is the full size. I think the reason I got it (instead of the larger 8x10 version) was because I am cheap, and I was trying to save a few bucks. Some things never change, I guess.

I first bought the Lowe Pro Nova 1 at Best Buy. Nice bag. Fits the 707 plus some accessories. However, I like to carry the bag like a messenger bag. I'm a big guy and the Nova 1's strap was too short. Back it went. If you're interested you can check it out here: http://www.lowepro.com/pages/series/nova/nv_one.htm

Then I bought the LCS-FX case. It is as described -- small, stylish, etc. However, it works best if only one strap is used -- either the camera's without the bag's vice versa. I liked the bag's strap. My wife liked the camera's strap. Oh well, back it goes.

We finally settled on the Tamrac 5211. Similar in construction, but slightly larger than the Nova 1 with a much longer strap. Nice bag. Highly recommended if you like a shoulder type bag. Also has loops for carrying on the waist. If you're interested check it out here: http://www.tamrac.com/5211.htm .

I've had the F707 and the Sony made case ( LCS-FX ) designed for it since they came out last November.

Perfect fit, very high quality leather, but with only minimal extra storage in the "L" accessed via a pull-down zipper, enough for an extra battery pack, and in the lid flap for an extra MS.

After several hours at couple of camera shops, I happened upon the Kopho KP1325 (a.k.a. model 903125 - see http://www.hpmarketingcorp.com/kopho.html ) for about $25 or $30 at Southeastern Camera and Supply in Raleigh, NC ( http://www.southeasterncamera.com/raleigh.html ). It's almost as if it were designed with the F707 in mind. It's got a velcro separator that ordinarily would go vertically in the bag, but when placed horizontally supports the lens assembly so that the camera sits perfectly horizontal in the bag. Under the separator you can stash a number of small items (batteries, cables). The front pocket holds quite a bit of stuff (mine contains a couple of filters, collapsible lens hood, camera manual, a couple of thin wallets containing cleaning cloths and memory sticks, and a telescoping Canon table tripod). It measures only 8.25 x 6.25 x 5.25". It's got nice firm padding in it and feels very sturdy and protective.

The only drawback I can find is that it doesn't have a hand strap - the only strap is the shoulder strap. It does have belt loops.

No room for add-on lenses - so if you want to take along an extender this isn't the bag for you.
