yesturday my E10 just frozed,i was playing with some setiings, then suddenly it wouldn't do anything and wouldn't switch off. I took the batteries out then back in. I switch it on and only the lcd screen would come on, but it wouldn't switch off. Again i took batteries out the back in.switch it on and everything was working ok.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Has anyone else had the same problem.

Yeah, had the same deal with my e-100, try a different media card, seems they can get corrupted in the header while writing to the card, usually when thier getting close to 2/3 full ... all's not lost, you can still recover your images from the card using those prograrms like photorescue ....

let us know how this turns out ...

Just a thought:

The Exx uses combination dial/button to select a some settings. The firmware recognizes these combinations and responds to the action appropriatly. However, there may be a case where if you try a combonation of button/button or button/dial that the firmware doesn't recognize and causes a lockup condition.

There were a few reports of similar behavior about a year ago(May '01) when I first got my E-10. The similarity between them was that it seemed invariably one ended up pulling the battery holder and often that spinning the cells around a bit solved the problem. It's likely a poor contact condition, maybe a mechanical problem. Some people found it helpful to remove the NiMHs and wipe the contacts. I'm sure the forum members that have been around longer than I probably remember hearing of this as some suggested it was a past topic when it came up a year or so ago and suggested spinning the cells around and cleaning the contacts. :-)

It may also be that for whatever reason the camera locked up and removing the batteries reset it, but it doesn't explain turning it back on and just getting the LCD display -likely with blinking battery symbol, that you described after the initial lock-up. It sort of seems to be a power or connection problem?

When mine died it was on a brand new set of NiMHs after about 3-4 images... I removed the holder, spun the batteries around and all was well. As I recall, I got around 100 shots or more on that set of NiMHs -after the initial problem. Hard to pin down the cause, but the solution seems simple enough.
