D7i Macro sample

There is no real reason for this post other than to share my
continuing satisfaction with my 7i.
I particularly like the macro and have been delighted with some of
the shots I'm able to get.
Anyone swithering about whether or not to buy a 7i - I give it a
huge thumbs up after 3 happy weeks.
Here is one of my recent pics - I hope you like it.

Nice shot, nice model.
To swither? I like it, but I don't think I've ever heard it before.
regards,

Maybe 'swithering' is a Scots word. Anyway - I like it.

now how did you get the bee to stay still long enough to focus - the ones on my lavender keep moving around to fast. did you just pick a spot and wait?

Thanks for the kind words Jeff.

In answer to your question - yes I did pre-focus. I then took around 15 shots in about a minute when I found this spot. This one and one other came out in focus.

I have tried with the continuous focus and it does well if you can hold the cross on the subject. The 'random' movements of insects are a little beyond me though.

If anyone else has macros in this vein ( or any more bee-stly jokes Dave) I would love to see them.

That's plenty enough reason :-) This shot is most excellent, thanks for sharing. It demonstrates the 7i's abilities really well!

Hi Roddy

Brilliant shot.

I have to agree with you about the 7i. It just keeps getting better.

Hi,

I also like those insects!
Please watch this: http://www.d7forum.de/gallery/ThomasB/aai

This was done with my D7i and the Olympus A-Macro Lens with the built in flash and a flash diffuser.

Thanks Thomas - some amazing shots! I particularly like #5. The
clarity is astounding. How do you deal with getting a suitable dof?
As you might be aware of - it's definitely not easy to catch such busy insects within this little dof. Actually it took hours, some patience and really many shots to get some good ones. Thanks to my microdrive the possible number of pictures is rather high.

Regards, Thomas
