Wow that is one fine macro pic!! Great Shot!

I actually have another shot of a plainer one

found on the same place on a diffrent time
Where was this taken
found at jakarta South East Asia, found it on a tree at a mangrove reserve near my place... i could post some picture of the magrove( its not that intersting just a swamp with lots of bugs and birds, would love to take picture of more birds when i get a tele lens)
I have not seen this kind of one exactly. But we do get similar types around > here in India. And, I have had many 'itchy experiences' because of them in my > childhood when we used to climb trees.
More about the ones you get where you live
Actually i wasnt awere such cool looking catterpilar was around, and my recent interst in macro photography brought a whole new world to me array of insects and wild flowers....even started to appreciate the beauty of files

People do post some unusuall macro around

Cheers

A quick google search for your area of the world narrows it down to a moth caterpillar. Looks real simular to the Calliteara family. I'm no expert and there are so many varieties of caterpillars, many unamed or unknown who knows?

There's a Calliteara horsfieldii from Vietnam that looks real close.

Further research reveals that this family of moth caterpillars has poison in the hairs and can cause itching so I wouldn't want to handle one of these.

Just my take, no expert and very possibly wrong.

Great shots btw.

Roger
